Politics. The Old Fashioned Way.

America is in a political crisis. The Republicans have caused it. Here's something that can be done about it by you. What worked for them on Conservative Talk Radio will not work on Social Media. Much of this political fight over what the truth is will be on social media. The Democrats can own the Republicans on Social Media if they remember how politics is done, persuasion. This is ammunition for the political wars on Social Media

This is... a Rapid Response Page to Maga lies.

Politics is a battle for the hearts and minds of The People. This site is to provide responses to Maga lies in Social media, where much of modern politics is now fought. It takes a lot more effort to refute a lie than to tell the lie. This is to make it easy to gracefully refute Maga lies.

This does not get updated to current events. It gets updated to match the topics in the comments sections of social media and news outlets that people are chattering about. Maga lies are usually Republican talking points that do not change rapidly, so this is a list of them, with snappy responses you can copy and paste.

  • Let's see how it is going so far...

The sleepy old man oversaw 9 straight quarters of record stock gains and job growth.
The smartest businessman in the world blew it all up in 8 weeks.
I kinda miss the quiet old man who steered the economy out of a raging dumpster fire without turning every news cycle into a circus train to hell.
Anyone that reads articles on Fox News should be terrified. All non-Maga statements are immediately removed because Fox knows how obviously weak their lies are, and Fox News is only there to manipulate your thoughts. It's not like they are trying to hide it.
Trump's refusal to fix his failure to protect due process is a refusal to do the Executive’s obligation to "take care that the laws be faithfully executed". Due Process is one of the most important legal principles of America. Without it, any citizen can simply be deported to some foreign torture prison without any chance to prove their rights. A prison without Due Process is a Concentration Camp.
The best way to lose the long term economic wars with China starts with Trump's attacks on education and scientific research. The best way in the short term is to start trade wars. After that, the best way is to reject the transition to renewables. Then the next best way is to destroy the economic and security relationships we have with our allies. After that is to cause economic chaos: psychopaths like trump thrive in chaos, nations, businesses and families not so much.
The Trump White House is sending 9,000 Afghan refugees back to Afghanistan to be murdered by the Taliban. These are men and women who stood side-by-side with the US military, many as interpreters, many as laisons to the locals.
China has halted U.S. beef imports and has struck a deal with Australia instead. Billions wiped out of U.S. Ranchers pockets. It is projected that Trump's policies will cost the tourism industry as much as $90 Billlion.
Elon, Elon, Elon... How's that chainsaw working out? Not so well. The projected $2 Trillion savings is now $150 Billion for the year. Apparently, even that smaller amount is suspect with critics pointing to inflated numbers, retracted claims, and a growing list of controversial cuts. That is all without looking at the math of how much all that random firing and rehiring of people will cost us in the end. Then firing 20% of IRS workers is enough to take all those savings away and more.

Another thing people are wondering is if there was so much fraud, why are there no prosecutions? It should be easy. You know the bank accounts... or just maybe he lied a bunch. One thing for sure, cutting all that research is going to lead to waste on a scale never seen before.

Their goal was never about savings, fraud waste or abuse. It's always been about gutting parts of the govt they don't like. Gut all checks and balances, gut regulators, gut foreign aid, target areas they saw as liberal and liberal workers. The savings was always a ruse.
Measles are spreading unchecked in 27 states with two unvaccinated children dead and many more are suffering from Vitamin A toxicity from following JFK jr's treatment advice. 99% of patiensts with the disease are unvaccinated. It has gotten bad enough that Junior MD finally did endorse the measles, mumps and rubella, or MMR, vaccine. Two doses of the MMR vaccine are about 97 percent effective at protecting against a measles infection. Of course, Junior had to chime in with misinformation and report that the vaccine wore off quickly. Still, that's nothing compared to all the other disease and vaccine research he has killed off. He seems to have a penchant for getting non-physicians to do medical research. Children suffer for the adults choices. That is not going to end well.

    OK, it's not going good.
One of the most effective Maga talking points has been about the transgender issue. They say something about you can't seem to say the difference between men and women. There is a good response to that, because it is true. "I've never cared so much about it, but there seems to be a big problem that Mother Nature too often gets confused when making boys and girls".
If it looks like insider trading...
    and smells like insider trading...
    They're definitely insider trading.
Well, maybe it is going good for Mr. Trump. Apparently his on again off again tariff game has angered the rest of the world but has made nice profits for him and his rich buddies that followed his direction to buy stocks before he off agained the tariffs, and got the stock market to do a jarring recovery. They made billions. Now that is some high class insider trading.

OK, bad for everyone else, but great for that oligarch class.
He denied knowledge of Project 2025 because he knew how bad it was, but he is putting it in place now. Only 4% of Americans support Project 2025, but that is what they are doing.
In more tariff news, if you can get past the whiplash and that sickly sinking feeling as you watch the stock market drop, we now hear that no one at the ports is collecting those tariffs. Thanks to a technical glitch, Donald Trump’s tariffs haven’t even been collected at U.S. ports. On Friday (04/10/2025), U.S. Customs and Border Protection reported that an entry code in the U.S. system for American ships to use to have their freight exempted from tariffs isn’t working, and “the issue is being reviewed.” As a result, no tariffs are being collected by the U.S. government for the time being. No one knows when it will get fixed, especially with all the other erratic tariff stuff. The Stable Genius says they are being collected, but he has been known to lie on occasion... most occasions...
The Supreme Court has unanimously ruled the Trump regime must facilitate the return of a Maryland man wrongly deported to El Salvador. How lawless do your actions have to be for even Clarence Thomas and Samuel Alito to rule against them?
When it comes to burning Teslas, after Jan 6, It doesn't bother me.
I wish people would catch on. It was not Biden or Harris that lost the election. It was won by lies, Trump's only life long strategy. It was Machiavelli that basically said that the person (prince) that lies the best will win. The prince of the Democrats is the Constitution, an inherently moral document, so it's hard for them to use lies. You need to neutralize that advantage. The thing is that what is going on now is just more of the class war in a phase that started with the New Deal. The wealthy want to finish destroying that and believe they can also do a corporate takeover of America.
The class war has been hot since the New Deal. Right now, the oligarchs hold the reins, but I don't think it will last. I hate to go with the 'S' word, but the only moral authority powerful enough to stop them will be socialism. Unregulated capitalism leads to the slavery that endangers us now.
If hard work made you rich, every farmer would be a billionaire. But they are not because the system does not reward labor, it rewards leverage. Modern Capitalism is about exploitation, not effort.
The IRS unit that audits ultrawealthy earners has been gutted. This will starve the government of revenue by making it easier for the rich to evade taxes — which the top 1% already do to the tune of at least $163 billion a year. See what DOGE is really about?

  • According to a lot of smart people, the courts are trying to hold the line, but the best thing you can do to resist Trump and his accomplices right now is to call the capitol switchboard at 202-224-3121 and ask for your member of Congress. Tell them what you think, good or bad. Get them in the game. Call them again and again.

The second thing to do is organize... with everyone. Teachers, carpenters, doctors, lawyers, nurses, programmers, clearks, and all the rest must come together, then come together with other groups and resist this takeover and destruction of American Democracy.

One other thing. Don't buy Maga. conveniently, there is a website called PublicSquare.com, that lists Maga aligned companies. It bills itself as “the anti-woke online marketplace,” a hub of tens of thousands of businesses nationwide that want people to know they align with MAGA views and oppose so-called “progressive priorities” like women’s reproductive rights and diversity initiatives. To be listed, companies have to promise to back Maga thinking, so what it is also very good for, is knowing who not to buy from.

The conservatives love to fill up the comment sections of the liberal press with their lies. Return the favor. Much of the political battle is now on social media. Go there and tell the truth, like the Maga tell lies.

Arguably, Trump won the election using his lifelong strategy of lies. The great political strategist, Machiavelli basically said that he who lies best, wins. This site is dedicated to fighting those lies, by enabling others to easily paste respond on social media to Maga lies that are really just repeats of Republican talking points. This especially needs to be done because Maga is following Bannon's suggestion of flooding the media with "crap". Those lies must be fought. This is how.

It's not just about Maga. It's also about the other, normal citizens reading the comments, who need to be told about the lies so that they don't fall for them.

Democracy proceeds by persuasion of an informed electorate. All other political systems use lies and force. Persuasive speaking is called Rhetoric and is older than Democracy. This site is to offer both political information and pithy (brief, to the point) rhetoric to reply to "conservative" comments on social media. It is not generally meant to persuade liberals or conservatives of anything. It is meant to offer ammunition to respond to Maga lies. It does have some background parts as well though, to explain certain topics in a bit more depth. That understanding can help with responses too.

While it does get updated and expanded, unlike other news outlets that need to continually produce a new product, this changes only with changes in the political issues and the solutions being offered. The basic issues really don't change much. "Biden crime family" is still strongly trending in the comments sections, so the response is still here.. The point it to keep it short and clear... and to blow away political lies.

Note that the web site is currently being updated to respond to the new political state we have after the election. Be patient. We are working on it.

This site is not meant to get anyone emotionally excited as most sites work to do. It is simply a collection of responses meant to be used to fight Maga lies with truth. The truth is that democracy is better for almost all Americans. Democrats are supporting democracy and the Maga conservatives are very opposed to it.

Why support democracy? At this point, the 2024 election was a referendum on freedom and democracy in America. A vote for Donald Trump was a vote to end that. The Republicans have long tried to persuade Americans that democracy doesn't work and that only they can fix it. Usually, they want to fix what they have intentionally broken. Mr. Trump ran as a dictator saying that he would fix things, but didn't mention that he was a front man for the oligarchy. He denied knowledge of Project 2025 because he knew how bad it was, but he is putting it in place now. We know where this leads. It is bad for America and bad for Americans. It is only good for the extremely wealthy that want to use their wealth for power, and to put themselves above the law.

One of the main points of this site is that Mr. trump won the election by lying. Other reasons have been given, but this assumes it was really mostly because of the efforts and success of the Right wing Media Machine lies. Machiavelli told the "Prince" that whoever is willing to go the lowest morally, wins. That also means the best liar and cheater, wins. That has been Mr. Trump's life long strategy and why I think it gave him the election. The "Prince of Democracy is the Constitution, an inherently moral document, so Maga lies must be fought with truth.

This site is to help tell the truth to Maga lies, so get out there and tell the truth, like the Maga tell lies.

  • It took Trump one month to drop all pretense of democracy and declare himself a king.
Which Executive order lowers prices? Which executive order helped American families?
That 3% inflation number in January is a prediction of what the markets see coming - higher prices. Even Fox news is admitting food prices are rapidly rising.
This is not right vs left. This is about top vs bottom. We are in a class war. It is the wealthy vs the working class. Musk is worth $200 Billion more than he was at the election day. It's about the Oligarchs stupid.
Imagine being afraid of diversity but not dictatorship.
The purpose of DOGE was to terrorize Federal Workers, damage vital institutions, demonstrate Trump's unlimited power and develop a single database of all Americans to track their political and economic status.
When the right says they want free speech, they really want to be able to lie without it being pointed out… Oh, and the left is all liars that should be silenced.
Maga can post Maga opinions in Yahoo or Huffpost comments sections, but any non-Maga opinion is immediately stripped from the Fox News comments. It seems they are very afraid of any other ideas sneaking into their bubble of lies.
Idolizing a politician is like believing that the stripper really loves you.
OK sure, eggs are more expensive and inflation isn't lowering, but at least they cut the funding for childhood cancer, stopped monitoring bird flue, shut down Medicaid, stripped hungry kids of their lunches and took hot meals from seniors.
The most important thing to understand is that lying is more than a strategy for Trump, it's what he does because it's his nature and he's good at it. Everything he said he would do on day one, he failed to even look at again. He claims he is looking for fraud and waste to cut, but if you look at the cuts, that is not what is happening. He's just ripping things apart, hoping he can claim he cut costs so that when he gives the $4.5 Tillion tax cut to the wealthy, people will be too busy and in shock to notice.
Elon Musk is worth $200 Billion more than he was just after the election.
Notice his politics. It's not about policy. He just says that if any Republican steps out of line, he will bury them in the primary using money. It's the Oligarchs stupid.
Don't doubt that Social Security and Medicare are Trump's priamry targets. Most Americans on both sides want Socail Security stregnthend, but that is not what Trump or the wealthy want. We are in a class war. Traditionally , there hasn't been a middle class, just rich above the law and poor subject to it, a feudalism. The wealthy want that back again. Since the New Deal was created, The wealthy have wanted to destroy it.The Republicans plan is not to shore up Social Security. Their goal is to destroy it.
The trouble is that it is hard to tell when Trump or Musk is just trying to amass wealth and power, or when he is just trying to damage the United States. Gutting USAID was about destroying American soft power in the world, our front line against China during peace. It was a gift that Musk will be repaid for very well. On the other hand, while gutting the CDC, FAA, FDA, etc. will help him financially, it mostly will hurt America. Making Patel head of the FBI will help Trump in his political war, but selecting Tulsi Gabbard, a Russian asset, as head of intelligence, or things like cutting education and NOAA seems just meant to damage the US politically. Or it could be a payoff to Putin. Either way, all of Trump's actions seem calculated to harm America.
If you think America spends too much on foreign aid, ask yourself what percentage of the budget do you think we spend on it. It hgets us a lot of good will and access. It includes our early warning system for emerging diseases. The US spends less than 1% of the budget on foreign aid.
It fascinates me that giving to charity is considered noble and praiseworthy, but creating an economic system that doesn't require charity is considered socialist and evil.
So the guy who ran a scam university into the ground wants to tell HARVARD what they should teach.

There is always some fraud in government, but dedicated people always work to root it out. America's problem is not government fraud. It is 40 years of trickle down tax cuts that have transferred most of America's wealth to the .01%.
They talk about Woke and DEI as being so evil, but they are just about a desire for Social Justice and Civil Rights. Those are traditional aspirations of America. It just means you care about others some, a pretty darn Christian ideal. A big part of DEI is about helping the handicapped and pregnant women. What's so bad about that? It's the same about traditional conservatism trying to protect America's traditional practices and institutions. What is evil, is trying to destroy both as Maga is doing and replace it with totalitarianism.
45 years of tax cuts for the Rich is the recipe for the current 36 trillion national debt. Only three Presidents have reduced the deficit. All were Democrats and one thing for sure, Trump's $4.5 Trillion tax cuts for the wealthy are not going to reduce it any. It is why he wants to raise the Debt Ceiling by $4 Billion.
The Committee for a Responsible Federal Budget estimated that Trump's tax plans will add $7.75 trillion to the projected debt through fiscal year 2035.
Fox News talks about freedom, but allows only Maga opinions in the comments on their site. All others are immediately removed. That's about fear.
Musk claims there is fraud but offers no evidence, so what is Musk trying to accomplish? A strong state was necessary to help ensure equality and justice, so the oligarchs of course want to destroy the state. It is for his power.
It is important to remember that Mr. Musk made Twitter so efficient it lost 30 billion in valuation. Just think how efficient he'll make the US.
The number of times that they announce a department cut and then rescind the order the next day or two makes it seem that they really haven’t done their homework on this. Really, deleting the watchdogs is key to what is going on here.
    MAGA doesn't like America.
They wear red hats saying "America is not great".
They don't like the democracy part.
They don't like the government part.
They don't like the "give us your huddled masses".
They don't like "protect other nations".
They don't like our land/animals/water enough to protect them.
They hate half the people that live here.
When all that's gone, what's left to like?
They're basically walking around chanting "I like... ME!!!"

  • Trump added $8 trillion to the deficit - $5 trillion was added pre-Covid. He added more to the debt than all US presidents from 1900-2000 combined. $8 trillion is nearly 25% of the current deficit.

And what did we get for that $8 trillion? An Infrastructure Bill? No, that was Biden. Chips & Science Act? Biden. An American Rescue Plan to create a soft-landing from Covid when the rest of the world was experiencing much higher inflation than the US? Nope, that was Biden. All ordinary people got from Trump was lies.

For $8 trillion dollars, we got one of the greatest transfers of wealth from the middle-class and low income earners to the .01% in modern history. The .01% tripled, quadrupled, and like Musk increased his wealth by 8 times, from 2016 to 2020. Did you? Did you pay less in taxes, because Musk has paid ZERO for the last 7 years.

And now Trump and the GOP wants to make the tax cuts even bigger and permanent, and he needs to take MORE from the middle class and low income earners to pay for it.

  • Trump's deportation of Abrego Garcia isn't about Abrego Garcia. The evidence against him is pretty sketchy and apparently he hasn't affiliated with gangs while in the US.

The first important point it is about is the complete lack of due process before Garcia's abduction. That is kidnapping. Without due process, anyone, any citizen, can be jailed or removed to another country without being given a chance to prove who they are, what their legal status is, or that they are even a citizen. Look up Allende Pinochet. He used that power, but he didn't deport people to other countries. He had them drugged and then thrown out of planes over the ocean. Really, being disappeared into a El Salvador prison might be worse than that.

The second important point is Trump's rejection of the Supreme Court's Constitutional authority. That means we are currently in a dictatorship.

  • Ultimately, it is Maga that must stop Trump. Not the part of Maga that thinks dictatorships are macho. Not the part that believes everything is a conspiracy to control them, and not the part that simply thinks all government is evil. It's the "Maga base" that voted for Trump because they are hurting economically, and Trump said he would help them. When they see how his policies hurt them and raise prices; when they figure out how much he lied and that he has no interest in helping anyone but the rich, they will stop him. They need to be told the truth to help them see the lies. When you do fight the lies with comments telling the truth, you are not just persuading Maga folks, but also the many others that are reading and might believe the lies put in the comments.

Trump increased the national debt by more than $8 trillion in his first term. An unprecedented 25% total increase of the total debt.

Trump spent $300 million of taxpayers money golfing in term one, after stating he'd be too busy to golf.

On Superbowl Sunday, he golfed with Tiger Woods in the morning then flew his entourage to the Super Bowl for a photo op, at an estimated $20M cost to the taxpayer.

Any DOGE savings will be passed along to billionaires as tax breaks. Same for tariffs paid for by everyday Americans.

Trump and Musk are there to destroy government by deregulation, for money and power. Nothing else.

Musk claims he is cutting fraud. Nonsene. To find fraud you use auditors. THey are just cutting anything they can. They even cut out the personnel at the National Nuclear Security Administration (NNSA). That agency designs, builds and oversees the U.S. nuclear weapons stockpile.

Dec. 28, 2023. “I’ve been around for a long time and it just seems that the economy does better under the Democrats than the Republicans.” - Donald Trump in an interview with Wolf Blitzer, 2004.

USAID was not about waste or fraud. USAID was our main source of soft power in the world and our best way to compete with China on the world stage. Trump claimed that "billions were stolen, the whole thing is a fraud". Andrew Natsois, former administrator of USAID, said that that is "utter nonsense". "USAID is the most accountable Aid agency in the world". 40% of the staff were lawyers and accountants tasked with preventing fraud and preventing money from being stolen. There were systems to monitor that. What they did was, they went back 20 years to try to find things. If you have to look back that far for abuse, abuse is not a problem.

Nothing Trump has done is about lowering prices. He has already said he has heard too much about inflation and doesn't want to have to pay attention to it anymore. He said he was most interested in revenge and that is what he has spent most of his time on so far. His hatchet man, Musk, has spent most of his efforts removing the parts of the government that protect and serve the people, especially working folks like the Maga base. Musk is loyal to himself, not America. The destruction of USAID wasn't to save the small cost of the program. USAID is to make friends and alliances around the world that help American economics and security. Musk destroyed it because it is about America's "soft power" to compete internationally, including with China's belt and Road Initiative. Musk destroyed it as a gift to China and he will be handsomely rewarded for doing it.
02/12/2025 - Then there is the current estimate of American private sector contract jobs losses at 51,946 due to the stop work, with 100,000 world wide. This shows how unplanned this illegal move has been.
It was noted that this also shut down the teams fighting the Uganda Ebola outbreak and Multi-drug resistant tuberculosis. Diseases don't care about borders.

Listen to Trump. He says he wants to solve everything with tariffs, which only he seems to believe will work and all economists on right and left say will be a disaster... and were the last time Trump tried them in his first term.

The cost of these tariffs will not be paid by the country that the tariffs are levied against. It will be paid by the American people through higher prices. Trump knows that and he just doesn't care. Groceries prices are of no concern to him, his family, nor the billionaires that he caters to. Not even the spineless Republicans who support him are hurting for cash. Just the poor souls who voted for him against their own best interest.

Look at history for what will happen. The Smoot-Hawley Tariff Act of 1930 made the Great Depression so much, much deeper and longer lasting. It was promoted as helpful for the economy but had the opposite effect. Maybe the Trump Administration knows something that economists don't. Time will tell.

Trump is not about common sense governing; he is about ruling and has repeatedly violated the Constitution's separations of power. He says his priority is revenge, something no one wins at. What is his commonsense approach to governing? Causing a Constitutional crisis over and over to demonstrate he has all the power of the government? Allowing a guy who has business conflicts of interest in China. A guy who is personally friends with XI and Putin. A guy who cannot get a top-secret clearance, but who has a bunch of kids ripping up the government and siphoning off everyone's confidential information? Talk about an unelected bureaucrat running things. Trump's rule is only about causing chaos. Only psychopaths thrive in chaos, not nations, businesses or families.

As of February 2025, Musk has made $270 Billion since the election. It wasn't by producing a product. It was because of access to the President. That is what oligarchies are about, and Trump is just a front man for the oligarchs.

  • Listen to Trump. He says he wants to solve everything with tariffs, which only he seems to believe will work and all economists on right and left say will be a disaster... and were the last time Trump tried them in his first term.

Not even the spineless Republicans who support him are hurting for cash. Just the poor souls who voted for him against their own best interest.

Look at what happened when Trump passed tariffs last time.
During his first term, Trump put a 25% tariff on imported steel. It did initially raise steel production, but the cost of American made products like cars, farm equipment, and appliances became more expensive. U.S. manufacturing fell. Retalitory tariffs caused another drop in manufacturing. In 2021, Oxford economics estimated that this test round of tariffs lowered U.S. real household income by $675 per year.

04/16/2025 - Times up. Now we know.
No man is an island and no nation either. We owe money to China in the form of Treasury Bills for things we have bought. The only ways we can pay that off is to export stuff back to them that they will buy. The largest dollar thing they buy is Boeing aircraft. Now Trump has made it so that China will buy from Airbus instead. How many jobs is that going to cost? The same thing has happened with Beef. How many jobs will it cost that they are now going to buy beef from Australia instead of from US ranchers? How many ranches will go bankrupt? Trump is an economic disaster for America.

  • This is where it gets really frustrating talking to MAGAs. Because whenever it's pointed out that it's wrong to use the government for revenge, MAGAs always say, "Well, Biden did it."

First, no - Biden did NOT use the government to exact revenge from his rivals. Biden used the government - specifically, the DOJ - to prosecute crimes where there was sufficient evidence. Big difference.

Second - MAGAs apparently don't hear themselves. The message basically is, "We think that what Biden did was wrong and we don't want to support it. So we're going to support Donald doing exactly the same thing that we criticized Biden's administration for."

How does that make any sense? If it was wrong for Biden to (allegedly) do it, then why is it okay for Donald to do it?

  • Russia has reintroduced political officers, known as zampolits, into its military to ensure patriotism and political unity behind President Putin's policies. These officers are responsible for the moral, political, and psychological conditions within military units, and they play a role in maintaining discipline and good behavior among soldiers. The reintroduction of zampolits is part of efforts to tighten control over soldiers' exposure to unfavorable viewpoints
In the US, we call them DOGE.
04/16/2025. Elite Pentagon Unit Resigns En Masse After Clashing With DOGE. The Pentagon’s elite tech unit is collapsing after clashing with Elon Musk’s Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE).

Nearly every staffer at the Defense Digital Service (DDS) is resigning over the coming month, according to the program’s director Jennifer Hay and three other current members of the office—effectively shutting down the program. “The best way to put it, I think, is either we die quickly or we die slowly,” Hay said, according to Politico. She plans to leave by May 1.

Dubbed the Pentagon’s “SWAT team of nerds,” the DDS was created in 2015 with the aim to modernize defense operations with fast tech fixes and digital tools for the military.

Hay’s 14 person team was reportedly blindsided at being sidelined by DOGE, having expected the DDS, with its tech talent, to be brought into Musk’s drive to automate operations at the Pentagon and integrate AI. An unidentified departing team member said that with the resignations, critical initiatives—like improving the Pentagon’s tech talent pipeline and countering enemy drones—will be abandoned. A former senior Pentagon official dismissed DOGE’s supposed mission to eliminate “waste and fraud,” arguing Musk’s brainchild is essentially a wrecking ball. “They’re not really using AI, they’re not really driving efficiency. What they’re doing is smashing everything,” the former official said. DOGE’s cost-cutting crusade has already shuttered other digital modernization programs, including the General Services Administration’s 18F program.

  • Announced as policy in his State of the Union Speech, Bidens main policy was basically to end the disaster known as Trickle Down that had gutted the middle class and transferred all their wealth to the top .01%. His policy was to rebuild the working class instead of just creating more billionaires. He wanted to go back to the Citizen Democracy that we had until Reagan changed it to Corporate Democracy.

Are you familiar with the term "Neo-Liberalism"? It's not about what you usually think of the term "Liberal". It refers to how business is treated and was largely started by Reagan. It means Liberalism towards business or perhaps "anything goes Capitalism". It was jobs going overseas. It was Share holder interests over everything else. It was profits over everything else. It was nations and society serving business instead of business serving society and nations. It's why there is so much wealth inequality and why the world is awash in debt. All the profits of production gains of five decades of growth went to the owners and everyone else lost out. Well, Biden's State of the Union Speech said that was going to change, from Corporate Capitalism we had after Reagan to Democratic Capitalism we had before that from the time of President Eisenhower. Business would serve the nation again like it did after President Eisenhower, the most prosperous time in America's history.

What does this mean today? Trump got elected for a reason. Many many Americans are hurting. The thing is though that the Republicans have very effectively worked to convince their base that the problem is the result of the culture wars and so they ignore the economic wars that are what are really hurting them. Warren Buffet said that there is a class war and his side is winning. The people that President Biden worked to help the most are the very desperate people that voted for Trump. Trump isn't going to help them and neither are his wealthy backers.

If you want to know what economic Biden's policies were, look at what they accomplished.

07/26/2023 - The S&P 500 was up 16% since Jan 20, 2021, when Biden was inaugurated, up 20% over the past year. NASDEQ was up over 35%. There were been 70 record stock market closes, and 10.5 million new-business starts.

Unemployment was at 3.6%, under 4% for 17 months, the best in 50 years according to the Bureau of Labor Statistics.
In 2023, the average was 314,000 new jobs per month. 2 million new jobs were created in one year by July 2023. That led to 4 million new jobs above pre-pandemic levels. (Trump lost 4 million jobs.) 13 million jobs were been created since Biden was elected, more than under any other President in a full four year term. That's more jobs than the last 3 Republican Presidents combined. Much of it is in heavy industry and manufacturing. It's the highest since George W. Bush was President, 800,000 new jobs and (Forbes) has reported $200 Billion in new projects. Morgan Stanly said it is driving a boom in large scale infrastructure projects. They even had to revise their GDP growth estimates upward. There also was no recession, that everyone said would be unavoidable. Inflation dropped (12 months in a row) to 3% in June of 2023. The rest of the world still had high inflation. Wages in the U.S. were up 4%, more than inflation and Americans were saving more and have more in the bank. Income inequality was even reduced some.

  • Compliments of Economist Robert Reich...

The Republicans love to complain about “Out of control government spending” by the Democrats. Rubbish. In fact, discretionary spending has fallen more than 40 percent in the past 50 years as a percentage of the nation’s gross domestic product (from 11 percent to 6.3 percent). Lately, rising deficits have been driven by Social Security and Medicare (to be expected, as boomers retire), and by defense spending and George W. Bush’s and Donald Trump’s huge tax cuts that mostly benefited the wealthy and big corporations — and that will have added $8 trillion and $1.7 trillion, respectively, to the debt by the end of the 2023 fiscal year.

  • What have Democrats done for America?
Social Security, Medicare, civil rights, minimum wage, 5-day work week, interstate highways, defeated the Nazis, balanced the budget (temporarily; thanks alot, W), killed bin Laden, clean air, clean water.
    • Healthcare Reform, Food Safety

  • Someone wrote the comment: "I am not a right winger, I just fail to see any benefits leaning to the current lefts lack of American values". I offered this response that the left is far from perfect, but is trying to adapt to an unknown future and work for social justice. The right is baically just trying to pillage.

The thing is the left is moving forward, leading in a dangerous, rapidly changing world. Leaders tend to fall in holes and make other mistakes, so you can argue against the left simply for that reason. They will make mistakes. The alternative though to trying to adapt to the future... is death. Not to decide is to decide. To not select the left right now is to select for the Trump dictatorship and corruption, it is to choose rule by oligarchy and economic slavery. It isn't about right vs left even. It is about the wealthy owners vs those that work to create that wealth.

So the benefit of the left is trying to find a path forward, adapting to a changing world in order to survive. It is also a choice against going back to repeating the horrors of history that we have many warnings about. Pick Trump and you are picking a repeat of what caused the Great Depression. Choose the oligarchs and you are picking economic slavery. I suggest picking the left, then there is a chance for a good future.... probably after lots of stumbles.

As for American values, the left works for Social Justice. There is no value more American than Social justice.

  • In a moment that should’ve stopped time, Jimmy Carter—quiet as a monk, sharp as a scalpel—offered a truth so unassuming, most missed the incision. He was speaking to Trump, but really, he was speaking to all of us. Carter’s point was this: While China has spent decades laying tracks for the future, we’ve been digging graves in the past. They’ve built cities, schools, trains that move faster than thought. We’ve built military bases, debt, and an empire of rust.

It wasn’t a boast. It was an autopsy.

China chose infrastructure. We chose interference. They built railways across continents. We bombed bridges across borders. They invested in AI, medicine, and education. We invested in overthrowing oil-rich governments, branding it freedom.

We spent $300 billion trying to bend the world to our will. They spent it making their own nation unshakable.

We don’t have high-speed trains. We don’t have roads that last. We don’t have universal healthcare, or education systems that top the charts. But we do have the most advanced weapons on Earth, pointed at every direction but inward. If we’d used even a fraction of that money on ourselves, our cities would hum like circuits. Our schools would shine. Our hospitals would heal. Our people might feel something we haven’t felt in a long time—progress. That was Carter’s quiet bombshell: the war we’re losing isn’t to China. It’s to our own addiction to dominance. And our refusal to invest in anything we can’t control.

  • Maga has gotten us into this mess and it is pretty much maga that is going to have to get us out of it. Here are some messages for them. If they figure out how much they've been lied to, this insanity may end.

When you voted for Trump, I bet you didn't think you were voting for a bunch of lawless billionaire oligarchs.

Doge or not, government spending is going up. According to an analysis published 02/25/2025 by Reuters, the Trump administration spent $710 billion between January 21 and February 20, nearly a billion more than Joe Biden spent in a similar time period last year.

When you voted for Trump, I wonder if you voted for their budget. They plan for $880 billion in cuts to Medicaid and as much as $230 billion in cuts to the SNAP food assistance, meaning significant cuts to programs that help tens of millions of Americans afford health care and food.

That is still not enough to pay for the Republicans budget blueprint calling for $4.5 trillion in tax cuts and $300 billion in new spending on defense and border security. Those figures are offset by just $1.5 trillion in spending cuts. Overall, it would add an extra $4 trillion to the federal budget deficit in 10 years.

Their budget includes a $4 trillion hike to the government’s borrowing limit, which would likely be the largest in U.S. history. ... When Democrats are in the White House, the Republicans have always said that's a bad thing, but not when they are driving.

That all adds up to pretty much a wipe out for working and poor Americans, to pay for tax cuts for the wealthy, including a bundle for Musk. It also comes with a large addition to the National Debt. Is this what you voted for?

The DOGE cuts are less about saving money than cutting services and grabbing power. The Republicans are justifying it with classic “trickle-down” economics.

Americans are hurting. That's why many of them voted for Trump, but they got oligarchs instead. It's painful to admit a mistake. The pain the oligarchs are going to inflict will be worse. Just get over it before it gets too painful for all of us.

So, this is what you will trade to give tax cuts to Billionaires?
Department of Education - Cancel education for children throughout the US.
National Institute of Health - I thought health was the most valuable thing a person had. Just wait for bird flu...
Department of labor - Sure, rip off workers all you want. (It's more a Trump thing).
Consumer Financial Protection Bureau - Seriously? Unleash the scammers and Frauds.
Centers for Medicare and Medicare Services - Work or die, then die. Oh, and empty those wasteful nursing homes.
U.S. Social Security Administration - Yes, more houses for the vulture capitalists to buy. Out on the street for you.
Lower prescription drug costs for Americans on Medicare and Medicaid, because the wealthy don't have enough money.
Enacted tariffs against our allies that will raise the price of everyday goods — from groceries to fuel ... for the same reason.

The federal civilian worker payroll totaled $271 billion in 2022. The annual cost of permanently extending Trump's tax cuts that primarily benefited rich individuals? $400 billion. Keep this in mind as Trump and Elon lay off thousands of federal workers. R.Reich.

Message to Maga: you won the election and now the bill is coming due. You have already seen food prices start to go up and inflation increasing. You saw the ecstatic billionaires that paid for Trump's election. They do not plan to help you. Already, the USAID cuts are hurting farmers and killing jobs. The steel and aluminum tariffs will help some in the steel industry and hurt many in manufacturing and the consumers of what the manufacturers make. You may know this a little or a lot, but you will know it more and more as time goes on. You were supposed to learn when you were young - never trust liars. Well, here we are. Either we end up in a dysfunctional techno feudalism where we are just revenue streams that own nothing, or we don't. The only way we don't is if you understand that you were lied to and start to push back.

Afghanistan All Over... What Trump is Doing In Ukraine.

John Bolton says Trump has surrendered to Putin before the negotiations have even begun, and called the concessions allowing Russia to keep the territory it has seized from Ukraine a “complete reversal of the U.S. position”, a major victory for Putin. The Trump administration’s latest position "could’ve been written in the Kremlin."

In Afghanistan, Trump just gave the Taliban what they wanted. He made Abdul Ghani Baradar, the new leader of Afghan. He was in a Pakistani jail until released at the request of Trump in 2019. Trump negotiated directly with the Taliban and excluded the Afghan government, which he is now doing with Putin. Trump seems willing to just generously give away the part of Ukraine that over 70,000 Ukrainian soldiers have died to defend. Trump wanted to invite the Taliban to Camp David on the anniversary of 9-11. He seems to want to meet Putin in Saudi Arabia. Trump facilitated the release of 5,000 Afghan fighters from prison. One of the released prisoners was Abdul Rahman al-Logari, the Abbey Gate bomber who attacked the evacuating troops, killing 13 of them, wounding 45, and killing 170 Afghanistan civilians. Trump is setting Ukraine up with continued Russian attacks launched from the Ukrainian territory that Trump seems so willing to give to Russia.

  • The interesting thing is that mRNA vaccines worked so well compared to Traditionally produced vaccines (J&J, SinoVax) that in the future, all vaccines will probably be produced that way. So, when bird flu comes along in humans, or whatever the next virus is, and it will come, are these people not going to take the mRNA vaccine or will they work to prevent its creation as well? And no, there is no evidence of any kind the mRNA vaccines mess with your DNA.

Trump dismantled the Pandemic Response measures his predecessor put in place. Then as the pandemic spread, he dragged his feet like Herbert Hoover; leaving state governors to bidding wars over PPE's, telling us it will go away, inject bleach, etc. Enter Doctor Fauci, who became the target to distract us from Trump's incompetence. The ensuing supply chain hangover caused the inflation, which President Biden was able to get under control.

Trump oversaw the greatest loss of lives in that world (by a wide margin) by choosing to pretend Covid wasn't happening. Maga people tried to treat a deadly virus like a culture war and it cost far too many lives. The United States should have had one of the lowest headcounts. Instead, we led the world in deaths. 1,218,836. No other nation exceed a million…not even India. A Lancet study concluded trump's handling of Covid resulted in 400,000 needless deaths from the pandemic.

That didn't have to happen. Trump caused it by being a stubborn fool who only saw a political downside. He inherited a team of scientists practically at ground zero; he broke them up and recalled them. His predecessor left a detailed plan for dealing with this exact crisis; he shitcanned it. Instead, he held superspreader events and had his followers rebel against every single precaution.

06/13/2024. How did a disease get so politicized? That link gives a very good retrospective on the U.S. response. It was a new disease that had never been seen before. The CDC recommended following the protocols for flu which included masks and 6 foot social distancing. Because of what has been learned about the transmission, the masks were probably more help than the distancing. Both saved thousands of lives.

Diseases are just part of life. Even some diseases get diseases. This is far from the first human pandemic and far from the last. Diseases evolve and there are a lot of human hosts that travel all over the world. There are a number of known avian flus that the CDC is watching and concerned about. The disease early warning systems started by President Bush and dismantled by Trump must be rebuilt or we will have the same or worse problem. While Covid killed over a million people, it was not as dangerous as a lot of diseases.

  • In one of his last official acts as President, Joe Biden announced the next fifteen drugs whose prices would henceforth be negotiated by the federal government on behalf of Medicare beneficiaries.
These 15 drugs, together with the 10 drugs that Medicare already negotiated, represent about a third of Medicare Part D spending on prescription drugs, which means the lower prices my Inflation Reduction Act is delivering will put money back in seniors’ pockets across the country.

Americans tend to have short memories, so allow me to remind you: winning this concession from Big Pharma was a major coup on the part of Biden and Congressional Democrats. Liberals had been trying to get this done for decades, in the face of stiff opposition from Republicans and industry lobbyists. Of course, Trump un--did most of what Biden accomplished here.

Like most elders, Biden had good days and bad, but if you watched the two state of the Union Speeches, those were better days than Trump ever had. Newt Gingrich penned a column comparing Joe Biden with Republican greats Dwight Eisenhower and Ronald Reagan, saying he has been very effective. Like most elders, Biden had good days and bad, but if you watched the two state of the Union Speeches, those were better days than Trump ever had. Here are a few things that Biden accomplished for the American people. Bipartisan infrastructure package. The PACT Act. CHIPS and Science Act. COVID Relief Bill. Re-joined the international Paris Climate Accord. Inflation Reduction Act. Bipartisan Safer Communities Act. National Defense Authorization Act. Burn Pit Registry Expansion Act. The economy added 115 million jobs under Biden, putting the total 5.5 million higher than before the pandemic. The unemployment rate dropped back to 3.7%. (lowest in 50 yrs.) Wages rose 9.5%. The number of people without health insurance went down by 4.2 million. Economic growth has bounced back, and corporate profits reached a new high. All time high stock market. ... What did Trump do except for tax cuts for the rich? Biden's bad days were better than Trump's best days.
When they say Joe Biden accomplished nothing, mention that ...
In 2016, Senator Graham said: “If you can’t admire Joe Biden as a person, then you’ve got a problem,” “He is as good a man as God ever created.”

“Obviously, I don’t always agree with him, but I do trust him. Implicitly,” Senator McConnell said the same year. Addressing Biden on the Senate floor, he added, “You’ve been a real friend. You’ve been a trusted partner. It’s been an honor to serve with you.”

Newt Gingrich penned a column comparing Joe Biden with Republican greats Dwight Eisenhower and Ronald Reagan, saying he has been very effective.

GOP Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene compared Biden's agenda to that of former President Lyndon B. Johnson and President Franklin Delano Roosevelt. "Joe Biden had the largest public investment in social infrastructure and environmental programs that is actually finishing what FDR started, that LBJ expanded on, and Joe Biden is attempting to complete. Programs to address education, medical care, urban problems, rural poverty, transportation, Medicare, Medicaid, labor unions, and he still is working on it," Greene said in her speech.

President Biden signed over 350 pieces of bipartisan legislation into law, more than any president since LBJ.

Mr. Trump said over and over that America needed an Infrastructure Bill, but it was Joe Biden that signed the largest infrastructure bill ever, funding tens of thousand of jobs building and repairing bridges, roads and transit. Really though, that was about making a national industrial policy. The potential payoff from that, especially in national competitiveness, is incalculable. That is how we have to compete with China. Joe Biden did that and now Trump wants to destroy it.

Let me tell you some of what Joe Biden accomplished in his 4 years...
An actual infrastructure bill instead of just proclaiming "infrastructure week" every month.
Biden signed a bill to bring back manufacturing jobs.
Biden signed the CHIPS bill which will improve our microchip production to compete with China and support hi-tech manufacturing in the U.S.
Biden signed a bill to limit insulin shots to $35.
Biden signed a bill to allow the government to negotiate prescription drug costs.
Biden signed a bill so there would be a limit to annual drug costs for seniors.
Biden signed a bill to fully fund Veterans healthcare.
Under Biden, more jobs have been created than since the 1960s.
Lowest unemployment rate in 50 years 3.8%, below 4% for 17 months.
Create Broadband fund to get internet to rural and other areas
There is a boom in infrastructure. According to Morgan Stanly.
Growth, not a recession. Real wages up.
Inflation 3%, down 12 months in a row. Went down to 2%, but has been steadily rising since Trump was elected.
15,000,000 jobs created, 5.5 million higher than before the pandemic.
And then a 4.9% gain in real GDP, adjusted for inflation, in the 2023 2nd quarter. That’s not unprecedented, but it’s about twice the norm during ordinary times, when the economy is growing. Yeah, but inflation. Luckily the rate has dropped sharply from a high of 9% in 2022 to right near 2% now.
    What did Trump accomplish?

  • 02/02/24. Remember when everyone said there was going to be a recession after Covid? One of Donald Trump’s leading economic advisers now admits he was wrong about the predictions he made for the economy under President Joe Biden.

“Mea culpa,” Fox Business host Larry Kudlow said on the air. “I was wrong about the slowdown and the recession, so was the entire forecasting fraternity.”
“The Fed, everyone was wrong,” he said, referring to widespread predictions of a recession in 2022 and 2023 that never came to fruition.
Kudlow made a similar confession about the strength of the economy last month when the gross domestic product GDP jumped faster than expected.
He did, however, add that a chunk of the growth was from government spending.

  • When they say Joe Biden should be prosecuted, ask them...
    What for?
Did he demand that the governor of Georgia find votes for him?
Did he try to blackmail a foreign leader to finding political dirt on his opponent?
Did Josh Hawley say he was responsible for the Jan 6 attack on the capital?
Did Mitch McConnel say he was responsible for the Jan 6 attack on the capital?

Now the usual answer to that, if they do answer, will be that:

He took money from foreign governments. Just reply "No, he never did".

If they say that his family took money from foreign governments. Just reply "Did he get $2 Billion from the Saudis like Jared Kushner did?".

If they claim that Joe Biden got a Ukrainian prosecutor fired to protect his son: Just Reply that
"For his actions to be improper it would mean that Biden somehow also got the United States Department of State, the European Union and numerous individual European countries, the International Monetary Fund, and the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development to also push Ukraine to remove Viktor Shokin for corruption. If we are trying to help rebuild a country, we want them to get rid of corruption. No, Joe Biden got him fired because he was so corrupt that every honest country and business wanted him fired."
President Biden's pardons were about Trump and his desire for revenge, not about any crime of Biden's family or anyone else. Trump has been in pay back mode, putting targets on the back of both Bolton, Fauci and others. Trump talks abut prosecuting everyone that looked at him sideways. There's an irony to Trump's desire for revenge. Jesus did not say not to lie or steal or commit adultery. Those were laws before his time. His messages were simply of love and forgiveness. I cannot imagine a more anti-Christian value than revenge, the stated goal of Mr. Trump. I mean, even if not in the scriptural way, that really makes Trump the anti-Christ.

  • Trump not Biden made Abdul Ghani Baradar, the new leader of Afghan. He was in a Pakistani jail until released at the request of Trump in 2019.
Trump not Biden negotiated directly with the Taliban and excluded the Afghan government.
Trump not Biden facilitated the release of 5,000 Afghan fighters from prison.
Trump not Biden wanted to invite the Taliban to Camp David on the anniversary of 9-11.
Trump not Biden refused to brief the incoming administration's transition team on the Afghan situation.
Trump not Biden bragged he didn't need an exit strategy for Afghanistan.
Trump not Biden signed the agreement in February 2020 and did nothing for the next 11 months. He could have started evacuations then.
Trump not Biden boasted in August 2021 that troop withdrawal he set in motion could not be stopped.
    Afghanistan is another Trump FAILURE.

If Biden hadn’t pushed it back a few months, we would have literally had to have left Americans behind, because there was no way to get them back in the time between when Trump left office and when Trump’s plan was supposed to take place.

Also... Trump's plan did no include any way remove American military equipment.

Trump pressured the Afghans to release thousands of Taliban prisoners. One of the released prisoners was Abdul Rahman al-Logari, the Abbey Gate bomber who attacked the evacuating troops, killing 13 of them, wounding 45, and killing 170 Afghanistan civilians. Abdul Rahman al-Logari was one of the prisoners released upon Trump's demands.

President Trump implemented most of the Afghanistan withdrawal, giving the Taliban what they wanted, the release of 5,000 prisoners without consulting with our Afghan allies. Trump reduced US troop levels to 2,500 when he left office. Pence's Special Military Administration described the 2020 withdrawal, an agreement TRUMP negotiated. Trump created the circumstances for another Bay of Pigs, Black Hawk Down, or Benghazi, leaving behind an unsustainable presence in Afghanistan, a crisis for their people, and a mess for the Biden Harris administration. Trump talked to the Taliban and left Afghan out of it. Trump even invited the Taliban to Camp David. Trump made the rules and did not finish it. Biden had to work under the Trump agreement. Trump betrayed the Afghans who helped us. Trump intentionally left a train wreck for Biden to deal with. Pretty typical for Trump.

  • Trump's performance in his first term:
The US economy lost 2.9 million jobs.
The unemployment rate increased to 6.3%.
The international trade deficit Trump promised to reduce went up.
The U.S. trade deficit in goods and services in 2020 was the highest and increased 40.5% from 2016.
Trump increased the National Debt by more than $8 trillion. An unprecedented 25% total increase of the total debt.
Number of people lacking health insurance rose by 3 million.
When Trump left office, there were 154,000 fewer people employed in manufacturing than when he became president.(Making Trump the worst "JOBS" Potus since Herbert Hoover)
Trump was responsible for the largest GDP drop since 1947, when the nation’s economy declined 11.6% by World War II.
3.3 million Americans went into poverty.

The Trump first term tariffs were the worst thing to happen to farmers. That Trade War parked 3 million farmers and the federal government had to bail them out in 2018. At the same time, it also allowed some other farm producing countries like Brazil to become effective competitors with America in farm products.
    .
As for the steel tariffs that Mr. Trump is raising up again, Rubert Murdochs Wall Street Journal warns that Trump is making a repeat “blunder” from his first term. Domestic steel producers benefited but those companies who use steel ended up with higher costs and had to lay off some workers as, among other consequences, American manufacturers became less competitive on the global stage, noted the Journal. It benefits the few at the expense of the many,” the board wrote in its editorial, titled The Truth About Trump’s Steel Tariffs.
    .
Previously, Journal’s editorial board trashed Trump’s idea to create a sovereign wealth fund by saying it “deserves to die in Congress” and predicting it would “destroy more wealth than it creates.”

If you want to see real inflation though, get Trump in again with his plans to raise tariffs, deport all immigrants, devalue the dollar and slash Fed rates. That may well accomplish hyperinflation.

  • President Biden certainly had good days and bad days, like any elder. On a good day though, he could throw out fiery speeches like his two State of The Union speeches where he said he wanted to change America back to a fair Citizen Democracy from the Corporate Democracy Reagan had made it into with Trickle Down Economics. On a bad day, he took his eye off of the borders and modern immigration pressures. On a good day, Biden directed policies of investment in American infrastructure and manufacturing. On a good day, Trump went golfing. On a good day, Biden was never much of a golfer. On a bad day, Trump caused domestic and diplomatic chaos, took away rights of American's, or supported conspiracy theories to divide America. While he talked about helping Americans and had concepts of policies, Trump's real accomplishment helped the wealthy the most, and financed corporate stock buy backs ... while exploding the National Debt. On a good day, Biden pardoned the targets of Trump's vengeance. On Trump's good days, he pardoned criminals like the ones that attacked the Capital police or corrupted elections. On a bad day for Biden, he debated Trump and got run over by Trump's Gish Gallop debate technique of a firehose of lies. On a bad day for Trump, he surrendered to the Taliban. On a bad day for Biden, he had to clean up after Trump surrendered to the Taliban.

I'd take a bad day for Biden over a good day for Trump.

A claim by the Republican National Committee that President Joe Biden spent 40% of his presidency on vacation was found to be stretched truth by Snopes.

Snopes determined that Biden spent about 8% of his presidency in a vacation setting, with an additional 4.5% of his presidency spent partially in a vacation setting.

The Republican National Committee's analysis included errors and sweeping assumptions, such as counting partial days as full vacation days, leading to an inaccurate portrayal of Biden's time spent on vacation. Joe Bidens Vacation Time.

Then there is CNN’s own count of Trump at 266 days spending some time at a Trump golf course.

  • When they talk about the letter saying Hunter Biden's Laptop was a Russian hoax...
Remind them that Fox News and Murdoch also both thought the laptop story was Russian disinformation and so they didn't run the story about it. That's why they got scooped on the story by CBS.
If they say that the Laptop is evidence of a crime, ask them...
The Republicans have had the laptop for years. Why haven't we heard what the crime is? If there was a crime, Rudy Giuliani would be singing about it from the rooftops.
If you want to be snarky, when they mention the Big Guy, say that "The Big Guy is why MTG likes the pictures from the laptop that she showed to Congress".

As for Hunter not paying taxes... Roger Stone owed nearly $2 million in taxes and this same DOJ pursued that civilly, not via criminal charges. Rudy Giuliani owes $550,000 in taxes, and this DOJ has not charged him. Hunter Biden's lawyers said he repaid the back taxes, and he faces multiple felony charges?

As former Attorney General Eric Holder observed, this is not the type of case that the DOJ ever prosecutes.

Criminally cases like this are never pursued, where the individual paid the taxes, penalty and interest. The federal government has a pragmatic approach. Why lock up a non violent offender guilty of a white collar crime with the only victim being the federal government which will cost money when they could be out earning money and paying you!

He paid - including penalties. THAT IS the punishment. That is the punishment for a whole slew of crimes, including traffic infractions and other nonviolent offenses.

Donald Trump would do it without batting an eye if the roles were reversed. Republican Senator Lindsey Graham said that Hunter would not have been prosecuted if his father were not the president of the United States. It's just standard Republican corrupting the legal system: lawfare.

  • When they ask why Biden didn't do anything about immigration... ask:
So why did the Republicans kill their own border bill?
So why didn't the Republicans once try to pass any immigration legislation in the two years after the 2016 election when they controlled the House, Senate and Presidency?

The immigration problem was largely created by a Republican dominated Congress at the request of Reagan to kill unions and lower US wages to please corporations. It worked. It has taken 40 years for unions to begin to make a comeback and wages has declined relative to inflation between 1980 and today. The last attempt at immigration reform, the bipartisan Gang of Four in 2013, was torpedoed by (R) Marco Rubio. Now in 2023, they also killed of the Republican written border control bill to make sure Trump had something to run on.

The truth is that the GOP rejected Biden’s supplemental funding package, which included money to hire new border agents, asylum officers and immigration judges, as well as technology to combat the flow of fentanyl. White House officials also note that Republicans rejected the comprehensive immigration reform plan the president introduced shortly after he took office.

“After voting in 2023 to eliminate over 2,000 Border Patrol agents and erode our capacity to seize fentanyl earlier in 2023, House Republicans left Washington in mid-December even as President Biden and Republicans and Democrats in the Senate remained to forge ahead on a bipartisan agreement,”

  • The conservative Heritage Foundation study, on court proven voter fraud, went back 40 years, to 1982, so that is about 9 presidential elections, with an average voter turnout of over 100 million voters each time. The 1200 odd fraud cases they identified, are out of well over 1 billion votes, and of course not just for one party, are a grain of sand on the beach, and not enough to change the victor in any presidential election.

Extensive election audits over many years show that illegal voting of any kind in U.S. elections is very rare. If someone is here illegally, the last thing they want to do is draw unnecessary attention. There is no way that voting would be worth the risk. There are many safeguards to detect and prevent illegal voting and it tends to be caught when someone tries.

There is rarely any significant voter fraud and manipulation.
But when there is, it always seems to be Republicans getting caught for it.

01/10/2023. Trump has repeatedly suggested that Democrats are encouraging migrants to flow into the country illegally in order to register them to vote in the 2024 election. The claim is unsupported, but many people believe it.

These claims ignore the facts around noncitizen voting in federal elections, which is illegal and remains exceedingly rare even as it is thoroughly scrutinized, according to Sean Morales-Doyle, director of voting rights at the Brennan Center for Justice. Anyone registering to vote in the U.S. must attest under penalty of perjury that they are a U.S. citizen, Morales-Doyle said. Lying is punishable by fines, imprisonment and deportation, he said — such steep penalties that very few people are willing to accept the risk. On top of that, federal law requires states to regularly maintain their voter rolls and remove anyone ineligible, a process that identifies immigrants living in the country illegally. Even with this and other vetting processes in place, only a small number of noncitizen voters have been uncovered — evidence that Trump's theory has no teeth, Morales-Doyle said.

After the 2016 election, an examination of 23.5 million votes cast including some of the most populous counties in Arizona, California, Florida and Texas, election officials found only about 30 cases of potential noncitizen voting.

A Georgia 2022 audit of its voter rolls found fewer than 2,000 instances of noncitizens attempting to register to vote for 25 years, none of which succeeded.

  • Economists say Trump's tariffs will hurt the economy, but nothing like mass deportation of immigrants. Put it all together and experts estimate that mass deportation would lead to a LOSS of 4.2 - 6.8% of GDP annually. Meaning our economy would shrink quite noticeably every year. The idea that this racist policy would be financially positive is as dumb as the Tariffs Are Free Money From Foreigners idea. There IS an argument to be made for ensuring that only people who get in “the right way” are allowed to stay, but economics isn’t it.

Deporting just 1 million people a year will cost $88 billion, mostly for the detention camps. According to Trump and Vance, there are 20–25 million people to be deported (people who know what they’re talking about say the true figure is half that), so you’re talking $2 trillion, give or take, to deport them. That is much of the U. S. yearly budget.

A study of the Obama years (note: Obama deported MORE people than trump) found that sending out 500,000 illegals resulted in the LOSS of 44,000 jobs for US-born workers. This is because companies that had large numbers of immigrant workers (especially in construction) simply shut down. The money they spent in their local communities disappeared. Farms that could no longer harvest their crops before they rotted in the fields made less money, and had less to spend on employees and local businesses. The idea that deporting the people who do the least popular jobs is going to HELP employment is a myth.

The biggest source of illegals in America is NOT the southern border. It’s people entering the country on legal visas, and overstaying. If trump were truly concerned about illegals, he would have a plan for dealing with this. He doesn’t. Why not? trump couldn’t care less about illegals. His housekeeper and many of the staff at his resorts are illegals. His co-president Musk was an illegal, as was — arguably — his wife. What he cares about is throwing red meat to the racists in his base by focusing exclusively on immigrants coming in from Mexico and making their forced deportation sound as harsh as possible. He's not going to deport a European model

  • The problem is that the modern national debt, started by R. Reagan, was largely created not just to give tax cuts to the rich, but also to starve the government of funds for social programs that might help the Democrats politically. It's mostly a Republican thing, built by Trickle Down Tax Cuts. Before that, spending was controlled by PayGo.
So who was responsible for the Deficit Spending that created the National Debt:
Reagan took the deficit from $70 billion to $175 billion.
Bush 41 took it to $300 billion.
    Clinton got it to zero.
Bush 43 took it from zero to $1.2 trillion.
Obama halved it to $600 billion while paying off the Great Bush Recession.
Trump got it back to a trillion." PolitiFact - 23 July 2019

The U.S. national debt when President Trump entered office on Jan. 20, 2017 was $19.9 trillion. On Jan. 20, 2020, it was $28 trillion.

Obama raised the National Debt in his first year in office to pay off the Great Bush Recession. The money was already spent before Obama ever got into office.

Now putting the debt racked up by the Bush administration on the books does mean that the National Debt rose by $8.6 Trillion in 8 years under Obama and that's pretty scary no matter who spent the money but consider this. U.S. National Debt on Jan. 20, 2017 was $19.9 trillion. On Jan. 20, 2020 it was $28 trillion. So that means that Trump raised it by $8.1 trillion in just 4 years. If it was horrible under Obama in 8 years, it actually seems worse under Trump in 4 years.

The Republicans own the National Debt. Reagan started it and since then they have intentionally jacked up the National Debt to transfer the wealth to the rich and to make sure that there would be no money for social programs that could politically benefit the Dems

When it comes to the National Debt, both parties are not guilty of it. The Republicans ran up the National Debt intentionally to give tax cuts to the rich, but more to make sure that there was no money for social programs that could benefit the Democrats politically. Yes, Obama added to it to pay off the Bush Great Recession, but aside from that, starting with Reagan, the National Debt is owned by the Republicans. Only the Dems have tried to reign in the federal budget and Clinton even paid it off some. Republicans have just jacked it up.

As David Stockman, Reagan’s Budget Director observed: "[The] debt explosion has resulted not from big spending by the Democrats, but instead the Republican Party’s embrace, about three decades ago, of the insidious doctrine that deficits don’t matter if they result from tax cuts.” "If there were such a thing as Chapter 11 for politicians, the Republican push to extend the unaffordable Bush tax cuts would amount to a bankruptcy filing." David Stockman, creator of Reaganomics, NYT op-ed 2010....Whenever any Republican mentions ANY deficit or debt “created” by Obama, make sure you correct them…tell them to go look in the mirror: they’re staring at the culprit.

  • Here are just a few things Democrats have done for America in the past.
Social Security, Medicare, civil rights, minimum wage, 5-day work week, defeated the Nastis, balanced the budget (temporarily; thanks, W. Bush), killed bin Laden, clean air, clean water.
    Healthcare Reform, Food Safety.
New Deal, Great Society, Peace Corp, Vista, Job Corp.
Civil Rights, Women’s Right to Vote, Equal Rights, The Voting Rights Act, Equal Pay Act, Motor Voter.
Consumer Protection, FDIC, Banking and Wall Street Regulations, SEC, Federal Reserve System, Anti-trust Legislation.
Funding for Science, Medical and Engineering Research, Space Exploration, NSF, NIH
Support for Public Education, Head Start, School Lunch, and Breakfast Programs.
NLRB, 8 hr. Work Day/40 hr. work week, Overtime, Unemployment.
Protection for the Environment, Endangered Species Act, FEMA.
    Veterans’ Benefits, GI Bill.
    UN, NATO, Marshall Plan.
Economic Growth (Democratic Presidents: Roosevelt through Biden)

  • The following data was obtained from the Federal Government in 2020 via the Freedom of Information Act, and it provides the proof that the Democrats are better at governing than the Republicans.
    Jobs: D = 68,312,000; R = 42,538,000.
    GDP - yearly average: D = 3.50%; R = 2.79%.
    Business investment - yearly average: D = 6.6%; R = 2.92%.
    Deficits - annual percentage of GDP: D = 2.07%; R = 3.04%.
    Unemployment - yearly average: D = 5.59%; R = 6.31%.
    Growth in Spending - average yearly increase: D = $36.9 Billion; R = $78.6 Billion.
    Balance of Trade - deficit: D = $5,625,690; R = $7,042,879.
    Stock Market - yearly growth: D = +1.92%; R = -0.64%.
Clinton took a weak economy from Bush Sr. and built a surplus.
The last balanced federal budget was under Clinton.
Obama took a recession from Bush Jr. and built the longest job creation stretch in history.
Biden took a reckless budget from Trump and cut the deficit $1.4 Trillion in 2022 alone.
Republican presidents caused the Great Depression, 11 Recessions and 1 Great Recession.
A Democratic president got us out of the Great Depression, 10 Recessions and the Great Recession.
    Trump's Recession in 2020 was #12.
Trump is the only Republican President to have a Recession end while still in office.
When a Democratic President had a Recession, it was over before they left office.
A Republican President has never gotten us out of a Democratic President's Recession.

Republicans talk the talk on the economy while the Democrats walk the walk.

Personal disposable income has grown nearly 6 times more under Democratic presidents
Gross Domestic Product (GDP) has grown 7 times more under Democratic presidents
Corporate profits have grown over 16% more per year under Democratic presidents (they actually declined under Republicans by an average of 4.53%/year)
Average annual compound return on the stock market has been 18 times greater under Democratic presidents (If you invested $100k for 40 years of Republican administrations you had $126k at the end, if you invested $100k for 40 years of Democrat administrations you had $3.9M at the end)
Republican presidents added 2.5 times more to the national debt than Democratic presidents
The two times the economy steered into the ditch (Great Depression and Great Recession) were during Republican, laissez faire administrations and 3rd was at end of Reagan with an S&L bailout, tripling of the debt, doubling government jobs, 96% of all debt now tied to Repubs and/or their policies.

  • 06/10/2024. Violent crime dropped by more than 15% in the United States during the first three months of 2024, according to statistics released Monday by the FBI. The new numbers show violent crime from January to March dropped 15.2% compared to the same period in 2023, while murders fell 26.4% and reported rapes decreased by 25.7%. Aggravated assaults decreased during that period when compared to last year by 12.5%, according to the data, while robberies fell 17.8%.
v The numbers were gathered from 13,719 of the just over 19,000 law enforcement agencies from across the country, according to the bureau.

Meanwhile, property crime went down 15.1% in the first three months of this 2024. Burglaries dropped 16.7%, while motor vehicle theft decreased by 17.3%. The declines in violent and property crimes were seen in every region of the US.

In a statement Monday, Attorney General Merrick Garland stressed the new data “makes clear that last year’s historic decline in violent crime is continuing.”

12/21/23. One of the main political strategies of the Republicans is to scare their base about everything. It is a good motivator. One of their primary scare tactics is to claim that crime is out of control. They repeatedly showing videos of isolated criminal activity and claiming cities led by Democrats have burned to the ground have been wildly successful. A recent Gallup poll found that 63% of Americans “describe the crime problem in the U.S. as either extremely or very serious, up from 54% when last measured in 2021.”

That same poll though shows that only 17% of Americans “say the crime problem in their local area is extremely or very serious.” That shows how effectively we’re convincing people that Democratic President Joe Biden has turned the country into a criminal hellscape, even though those same people see no actual evidence to that effect. Recent data says that the truth is that crime is down.

New FBI data comparing crime from January through September of of 2023 with the same period teh previous year shows a number of trends
      Violent crime is down 8%.
In cities of more than 1 million people, violent crime is down nearly 15%.
Murder is down 15.6% nationally and down 25% in cities of more than 1 million people.
Robbery is down nearly 10%, and burglary is down nearly 12%.
Motor vehicle theft, in one instance of good news, is up 10%.

Crime data analyst Jeff Asher at AH Datalytics has the murder rate down 12.6% over last year, and recently wrote that this could be “either the largest or one of the largest national declines in murder on record.” He also wrote: “The decline in crime shown in the quarterly data – if realized – would be historically large. To put some of this in perspective, a 4 percent decline in the nation’s violent crime rate relative to 2022’s reported rate would lead to the lowest violent crime rate nationally since 1969.”

Recently the National Retail Federation released what The New York Times called a “startling estimate that 'organized retail crime’ was responsible for nearly half the $94.5 billion in store merchandise that disappeared in 2021, a figure that helped amplify claims that the United States was experiencing a nationwide wave of shoplifting.” Facts intervened again and the federation had to retract that claim, as apparently retail theft is down, the group was using faulty data and an expert reported that “organized groups were likely responsible for just about 5 percent of the store merchandise that disappeared.”

One thing is for sure though. The Republicans will keep saying America is facing a crime spree the likes of which we’ve never witnessed.

  • 06/30/2023. Republicans claim Democrats can’t keep us safe – crime data disagrees.

Third Way, a center-left think tank, has found that states which voted for Trump in the 2020 election had overall higher murder rates than those which supported Joe Biden. This trend, called the “red state murder gap”, has been consistent for 20 years. The pattern remains the same even if the most populous county in each red state is excluded – undercutting an argument common on the right that large cities, which tend to be led by Democrats, are to blame for homicides. This is especially true in the South that has traditionally had a high murder rate.

Overall though the analysis suggests that it's not as much about state politics as much as local policy, particularly gun laws. Unfortunartely though, gun laws are only as good as those in the next state over.

There are signs that the pandemic-era wave of murders has crested. Statistics from AH Datalytics indicate murder rates in 90 US cities until the end of May have fallen by about 12% year on year, including in New York City, where Jordan convened a hearing of the judiciary committee into the city’s purported crime problem shortly after Bragg brought his charges against Trump.

07/17/2023. Republicans claim illegal immigrants bring a crime wave. The trouble is that it is completely false. “When you look at the data, the data shows quite strongly — this is specifically data from the Texas prison system — that undocumented immigrants commit crimes at lower rates than U.S.-born citizens, though at slightly higher rates than people who come through the legal immigration system,” he said at the time. “So we know that there’s really no correlation between increased migrant arrivals and spikes in crime.”

What the Republicans do is mention are specific instances of crimes, such as Kate Steinle or Laken Riley, allegedly committed by people in the country illegally. Well, yes, there is crime committed by illegal immigrants, but generally less than by citizens. It would be better if no crimes were committed by immigrants, but the problem is not nearly as bad as the Republicans like to scare their base with.

At the same time, Republicans repeatedly vote to cut funding to the FBI, IRS, and even Homeland Security as well as have maintained roadblocks to processing immigrants so they can be legally deported faster.

  • According to John F. Kennedy in 1960 “If by a ‘liberal’ they mean someone who looks ahead and not behind, someone who welcomes new ideas without rigid reactions,” he said, “someone who cares about the welfare of the people – their health, their housing, their schools, their jobs, their civil rights and their civil liberties… if that is what they mean by a ‘liberal,’ then I’m proud to say I’m a liberal.”

Woke seems to have originated as a term for "being aware of institutionalized racism in America". Now that Maga has chewed it into a new meaning to them, it would probably be more useful to say that it is a "call for Social Justice". Basically it calls against racism and Sexism. It is a call for tolerance of GLBQTRSV. It is many things, but it is for limited reasons.

Obviously, the Christianity based on Jesus' message of love and forgiveness was tolerant nd inclusive. A big difference from the Judaism that Christianity came from was that it wanted converts and outsiders to join.

That is one reason, that is meaningful to some. There is another far more objective reason, but still based in morality. A problem we face is that we, Americans and humanity, exist in a rapidly changing world where no one knows the future and or what we are going to need to survive in it. It is clearly getting more dangerous. We are all in this together. We are going to need every potential and capability that humanity has got, and only by working together are we going to survive into the future. Unfortunately, the oligarchs and company are only concerned with power, now and in the future. For them, for any ruling class, change is dangerous to their position, power, and wealth. For everyone else, change is necessary to survival. There are always things we don't like about others, heck, they are different, but we do depend on others and will depend on others to make it to the future. That is why Social Justice is necessary. Without it, without fairness, we will not be able to work together.

  • Trump is a problem created by Maga and to some degree will have to be solved by Maga. When they realize all he has is lies, they will push back. We have to fight those lies and show the truth to them, but carefully or they feel challenged. Really, they are going to have to figure it out on their own. They will. The economic pain Trump is heading them to is going to make them think.

That doesn't solve their problems. People supported Trump for different reasons. Some have been corrupted by Putin. Some want a dictatorship because they think it will bring order in a chaotic world. Some follow the ideology of John Birch and think all government is evil. Neither of those will like a dictatorship. Many are hurting economically, but this path leads to an oligarchy and an economic slavery worse than anything since the Gilded age. Many did not want unelected bureaucrats to determine their fate, and now we have Musk taking every scrap of their data and tearing apart the institutions of the nation that support them. Most of these really only supported Trump because of his lies, about how bad everything in America was and how only he could fix everything. Some of those that believed his lies already have seen the truth. Every day more will be hurt, more will see that he fixes nothing. He only destroys. These are the people that we must address with truth to fill where those lies were. Then they will turn away from Trump... and that will be the only way he is to be defeated.

Actually, they may change. Many of them anyway. Much of this is about kitchen table economics, and that is going to get worse. As it gets worse, we need to tell them they were lied to. It is about economic wars, not culture wars. That is part of why to emphasize that the Oligarchs have grabbed control.

Trump causes chaos and the truth is that only psychopaths thrive in chaos, not nations, not businesses and not families. Certainly not America.

The thing is, Trump has a loyal, energized base... which he is going to hurt very badly. He only has contempt for them. The truth is that he is a front man for the rich oligarchs. That base though is hurting and Trump's policies will make them hurt worse. Pain does focus the mind. They voted for Trump because of the economy, but no Executive Order so far even tries to lowers prices. Nothing he has done is about prices or inflation, though he did get rid of the Consumer Protection Bureau.

The truth is that Trump did not get rid of the swamp. Instead he got rid of the Inspector Generals that were supposed to fight waste and fraud. He got rid of the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau. That will not lower prices. He said bribery of foreign countries is OK, just as the Supreme Court said kickbacks are OK. He said lobbyists could work for the government, something he had said was a horribly corrupt practice.

Nations, businesses and families grow through investment. Many of the wealthy only understand grifting of existing wealth that is created by others, by working people and small businesses. Tax cuts for the corporations haven't led to investment. They've led to stock buy backs. Corporations already have all the money they can use and are looking for any ways they can invest it. Unfortunately, they are machines with no off switch, like the greed of too many individuals.

  • Culture War vs Class War. This is about Class War and Desperation.

This whole political mess may look absurd, but it is serious. There is reason and hard money behind it. Besides, the Class War has been the normal during history, but that's a more complicated story. (There has never ben a middle class, just rich and poor. This is about those that want it that way again.) The problem becomes when the balance is lost.

The Republicans have convinced their base that the class war is actually a culture war. Those voters think Trump will protect them from "coastal elites" when it is the Republicans that are fleecing them... and they are hurting, which is why they are supporting Trump... Somehow, I doubt that he will actually help them. This is the real grievance and why so many Americans are desperate enough to follow a populist leader, even an autocratic one. They want and need their problems solved. They are desperate.

Class war is about money and is very realistically important. It's about the investment class (who they call the upper class) exploiting the working class (they call the lower class) for profit and transferring their wealth by various means. It's why while the wealth of the nation and prices have gone up for the last 30 years, all the excess wealth (and then some) has been going to the investment class. None of it has been going to the working class so now the working class can't afford housing, health care, higher education... vacations or even families. It is kitchen table economics.

Culture wars are things that don't hurt you like if someone is gay or if they have an abortion or they aren't the right religion or they might know CRT or be woke or their might be a gay character in a book or that the Democrats are pedophiles that drink the blood of children or vaccines are poison or global warming is a conspiracy. All the rest of the things the Republicans use to excite the base. It's about anger and fear, not money. They don't want you to think about that. None of those hurt someone but that is what the Republicans want us to fight about so we don't see what hurts us, the economics of the class war. That is not wha this site is about, but I highly recommend that you learn about it and the best way is probably from Economist and former Labor Secretary Robert Reich. His site has great resources for understanding how the economy has gotten to how it is now. to get an idea of what his work is like, may I recommend a short video he mad about The Powell Memo: How and Why Corporations Took Over America.
Trump is adored by his followers. Dave Chappelle explained why

“I’m just being honest with you, I live in Ohio amongst the poor whites,” he said, adding, “A lot of you don’t understand why Trump was so popular (and) … very loved.” Chappelle — who acknowledged in his monologue that he’s a Democrat — then delivered a comedic explanation for why Trump is adored by his followers.

He joked that Trump was an “honest liar” who told the unvarnished truth about a system set up to help the rich and powerful. And he recounted how Trump openly admitted as much during a 2016 campaign debate: “He said, ‘I know the system is rigged because I use it.’ ”

The comedian then joked about how Trump, accused during that debate by Hillary Clinton of not paying taxes, shot back: “That makes me smart.”

Chappelle shared that for many working-class Americans struggling to makes end meet, Trump’s “honesty” in revealing that the rich and powerful have been taking full advantage of a system designed for their benefit only enhanced his stature.
Democrats have occupied the White House for 18 of the last 26 years. Democrats controlled both houses of Congress during the first two years of the Clinton, Obama, and Biden administrations.

During these years, Democrats scored some important victories for working families: the Affordable Care Act, an expanded Earned Income Tax Credit, the Family and Medical Leave Act, and the Inflation Reduction Act, for example. I take pride in being part of a Democratic administration during this time.

Yet the most powerful force in American politics today is anti-establishment fury at a rigged system. There is no longer a left or right. There is no longer a moderate “center.” The underlying choice is either Trump Republican authoritarianism or Democratic progressive populism.

Democrats cannot defeat authoritarianism without an agenda of radical democratic reform — an anti-establishment movement. Democrats must stand squarely on the side of democracy against oligarchy. They must form a unified coalition of people of all races, genders, and classes to unrig the system.

Trumpism is not the cause of our divided nation. It is the symptom of a rigged system that was already dividing us. While Trump authoritarianism masquerades as being anti-elitist, it is backed by some of America’s richest corporate and financial leaders — such as money manager Stephen A. Schwarzman, industrialist Charles Koch, venture capitalist Peter Thiel, shipping magnate Richard Uihlein, and almost every major American corporation and trade association.

The central goal of the corporate and financial backers of Trump authoritarianism has been to split the bottom 90 percent of Americans into warring factions so they don’t look upward and see where all the wealth and power have gone.

We have yet to discover whether their ploy succeeds in the long run.
Capitalism is the use of capital as a tool of productivity. All forms of government use capitalism. That is pretty much how every bridge, building, power plant, airport and government building is built by any government from kingdoms to democracies to socialisms to communisms (though there China has used human capital a lot). It is by investment. The trouble is that capital is a great power and tends to get misused to amass more power. It is often used as a bludgeon and even the laws can be purchased. As they say, money never sleeps. It can take on a life of its own.

Greed is a funny thing. In Western Culture it is known as one of the Seven Deadly Sins. In some other cultures, it has a worse reputation. It's just a natural thing in many ways but what is the point of it? You can't take it with you. Greed by itself, is problematic, but only so dangerous. When it becomes dangerous is when it is actually driven by the human instinct for dominance and control. Then it lays waste to everything it touches.

That's what elections are about these days. This is what we have come to. Not issues. It's about shall America continue as a democracy... or even a democratic republic as some seem to want to insist. Or we can go to something called a democracy like Russia claims to be. They want a Strong Manto break the broken system because they believe he will make a better one that works for them. He won't. It will all be worse. They need to be beat politically, but also we need to make this system work for ordinary Americans or we will end up losing whatever democracy we have. So too will much of the rest of the world as a result. The outcome could be even worse than that though.

  • There are a lot of things you can do to resist the damage Trump is doing to America in his authoritarian power grab. This web site is bascially about responding to Maga lies on social media and comments sections, but there are other methods.

First and foremost, work with others. Look around for others. Organize. Communicate. That's how politics, and all human endeavors work.

I like Mark Cuban's suggestion. Use Bluesky and encourage others to. It could challenge the dominance of tech giants in the social media landscape. It is a “less hateful world” compared to X. If Bluesky ends up with more users than the others, you destabilize musk, zuck, trump." As a decentralized platform, it is a more democratic approach to social media, where power is not concentrated in the hands of a few.

While this site is about understanding issues and giving a written response that reveals the lie and shows the truth, instead you can use the (Socratic) method of just asking questions, such as asking "Which Executive order lowers prices". This, and other more psychological based methods that might work in conversation, are explored by Jeremy "Unsure" Sherman. He has a great take on the problem and a number of YouTube videos exploring how to positively address Maga folks.

There is also Deprogram A MAGA Trumpster that offerers a Trumpster Deprogramming Course Anyone Can Do At Home and a YouTube Video Collection with many videos about the problems and solutions of Trumpism. This site too is about using truth to fight the Maga Lie Machine.

It basically comes down to do you want some rich guy blowing up the government and then taking over what he doesn't destroy.

As of February 2025, Musk has made $270 Billion since the election. It wasn't by producing a product. It was by political connections and manipulation of the law. That is what oligarchs do.

Musk looks like that unelected bureaucrat the right wing has been warning about.

From Musk, I just see destruction... Besides illegal, his takeover of the Treasury is terrifying. Think about how convenient it would be for Musk if he could just remove all records of an enemy. No bank accounts. Nothing to make payments with. Nothing to make payments to. You just non-personed them. How convenient. What others are concerned with is when there is a major disaster. He would control who gets emergency funding and who doesn't.

The richest person in the world spent more than $290 million backing President Donald Trump and Republicans in the 2024 elections. It has given him the power of the Presidency and he intends to use it. He was not elected to any government position, but is is accessing confidential information, including information pertaining to national security and to his own business interests.

Musk is unaccountable for wielding power what is the power of the Presidency. He's not only the richest person in the world, he also has the world’s largest megaphone, through which he is amplifying lies in support of right-wing parties and candidates around the world, and by which he blew up a bipartisan compromise on the federal budget that not incidentally barred him from working on Artificial Intelligence with the Chinese.

Musk's high flying young interns are sucking up every bit of financial and personal information they can access legally or by brute force... and recording it who knows where or for what purpose. They also seem to be re-writing not just much of the code that the American economy runs on, but also who has access to it.

Musk seems hell-bent on cutting off as much funding as possible for the programs that matter to the rest of us. It's instructive to note that none of the DOGE people talk about making the IRS more effective at making sure the rich and big business pay all their taxes. Why is it always about reducing spending, never about increasing revenue.

Better and better, not only does Musk have financial and business conflicts of interest. He has major political conflicts of interest not just as a personal friend of Xi and Putin, but with huge business interests in China. In the past, he has made many statements showing he has minimal allegiance to America. As far as his loyalty to American democracy, he seems to have distain for it and an awful lot of associates that are white supremists (to call them politely), including among the previously mentioned interns.

One case of his conflicts of interest seems to Musk's efforts to cut USAID. USAID is how the US diplomatically competes with China. It is the essence of American "soft power" and a counter force to China's Belt and Road initiative. Getting rid of it is a Gift to China and Musk will be rewarded handsomely for it in terms of China business. Killing it was never about its cost.
Foreign policy experts have argued that the decimation of USAID and its goodwill foreign policy strategy, for instance, will weaken the US's global positioning and provide China the leverage to take center on the world stage, with some unexpected complications to boot. If our children ask why China is dominant on the world stage, that will be a large part of the reason. To make it even worse for Americans, it is causing huge disruptions for farmers who have been selling food to the countries USAID was helping. That missing food will cause political chaos in contries that are currently friendly to the US.

    • Is Musk Working For China? He has good business reasons to. Musk's business operations in China, including Tesla's success in the Chinese market, have led to accusations of him being beholden to Chinese interests. Foreign policy experts, fear that Musk’s actions are more in service of his personal financial interests, and the Chinese government. Critics argue that he could boost China as it positions itself to replace the U.S. at the forefront of the world stage.

Despite declining sales around the globe, Tesla has retained a stronghold on the Chinese market. The company’s Shanghai “gigafactory” is one of its biggest, and accounted for more than half of Tesla’s global sales in 2023.

Tesla has pulled off several major coups in China. Musk has spent the better part of the last year actively lobbying Chinese officials to advance the approval of his car company’s self-driving features—a turn that would transform Tesla into a more AI-centric company.

In 2023, Musk earned a sharp rebuke from Taiwan after he suggested that Taiwan was an integral part to mainland China, separated from the country “arbitrarily” due to U.S. involvement in its defense operations, and “analogous to Hawaii or something like that.”

Musk seems to be friends with Russian President Vladimir Putin, with whom Musk has reportedly had regular contact since 2022, and Putin allegedly asked the tech billionaire to avoid activating his Starlink satellite internet service over Taiwan "as a favor to Chinese leader Xi Jinping", according to The Wall Street Journal. WSJ

In a letter to newly confirmed Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent, Senate Finance Committee Ranking Member Ron Wyden warned that Musk’s business operations in China were a fundamental conflict of interest that should prohibit the billionaire from accessing sensitive data and government secrets.

“I am concerned Musk’s enormous business operations in China—a country whose intelligence agencies have stolen vast amounts of sensitive data about Americans, including U.S. government employee data by hacking U.S. government systems—endangers U.S. cybersecurity and creates conflicts of interest that make his access to these systems a national security risk,” Wyden wrote.

Wyden also accused Tesla of receiving “several unusual concessions” from the Chinese government, including privileges “no other car company” had within the Eastern market. Further, Musk’s advantageous tax and loan rates set by Chinese state-owned banks made the carmaker a liability in the White House,

“In light of China’s recent hack of the Treasury Department’s systems, it seems unusual to be granting access to sensitive systems to an individual with such significant business interests in China,” Wyden said.

And Musk’s former Department of Government Efficiency co-chair Vivek Ramaswamy warned in 2023 that he believed “Tesla is increasingly beholden to China.” “I have no reason to think Elon won’t jump like a circus monkey when Xi Jinping calls in the hour of need,” Ramaswamy said at the time, while discussing Musk’s decision to build a battery plant in Shanghai.

    • Just wait until the bond market reacts to Musk moving money around in the treasury payment database the first time. It will implode.
Will Musk/Trump use these funds to withhold payments due to whoever doesn’t fall in line with what they want.

  • Ask the hard core Maga: Did you vote for President Trump or President Musk?
The great thing is that Maga operates by lies. The bad thing is that Maga operates by lies. The great political strategist Machiavelli, basically said the whoever lies the best wins and following Bannon's lead, Maga fills the media with lies. It's not just about telling lies. It's about making it impossible to tell what the truth is. The great thing is that they are usually really lame lies or are just trivial insults, both from Republican talking points. Luckily, there aren't that many of those talking points, so it's not hard to have answers ready for them. That's what this page is. The best way to respond is with a short pithy statement that (1) shows the lie and (2) tells the truth. This page is supposed to offer those pithy sayings.
Keep a few things in mind:
If the Maga folks ever figure out that they have been played by the billionaires, it will be game over. They are already ready to fight. You want them as an ally. Use truth, never insults. Anyway, it is the leadership that is trying to divide us and start the fight. Most citizens aren't that far apart in their opinions. Don't waste time on the die hard Magas. Most people that voted for Mr. Trump did so because they are economically hurting. A great response to use, because it is true, is:
The Right wants their base fighting the culture wars so that they ignore the economic wars eating them alive.
What they need to realize is that it is not Right vs Left, it is Top vs Bottom, the Wealthy vs everyone else.
Use their own words against them. If they complain about the Jan 6 investigation, say: "Yes, it seems a little unfair that all witnesses against Mr. Trump came from one party, but that was the Republican party".

Another winner for some occasions is: Dec. 28, 2023. “I’ve been around for a long time and it just seems that the economy does better under the Democrats than the Republicans.” - Donald Trump in an interview with Wolf Blitzer, 2004.

In the mean time, keep asking the Maga folks if they think billionaires running the government is a good thing. It's a simple message and should be spot on.

  • Socrates probably wasn't the first, but he especially focused on the power of using questions to get to the truth. It puts the question on the person you are asking and in the case of Maga lies, then they have to try to hide the truth from themselves.

While you can tell Maga folks they were told a lie and then state the truth of something, a lot of Maga lies (Republican talking points) can also be phrased as questions. Like:
    Which Executive order lowers prices?
Just how much higher are prices going to go and for how long?
Do you think you are going to get what you voted for?
Is this even near what the Constitution says?
Trump wrote on Truth Social that IT WILL ALL BE WORTH THE PRICE THAT MUST BE PAID. Holy mackerel. What does that mean? I thought prices were supposed to go down.
I mean doesn't this go directly against his claim of lowering prices at the grocery store for us all? I'm confused. We are paying higher prices than ever before and it sounds like tariffs that will lead to even higher prices? I am not sure it makes sense.
Musk is making things crazy in Washington. How far is that going to go cutting things?

Is [Medicaid, ACA, Medicare, Social Security] safe? I need that.

Couldn't this hurt the entire economy and lead to inflation and even a recession?

  • This article was interesting and probably true... unfortunately. Maga is driven by fear.

Anyone that is afraid about what Trump is doing should know about the John Birch Society. A lot of what is going on follows ideas and play books that basically go back to them. I recommend reading that article, because I think it is close to the root cause. Basically, they believe that the government could solve all our social problems easily, but choose not to, so that they can control us. That refers to both Right and Left. They are both in on the conspiracy. All current government is just plain evil.

That may sound familiar. The anti-state Libertarians also like the idea of no government or laws, because then no one can regulate their businesses or tax them, but that is another anti-government story.

There is another article: Dealing with friends who become conspiracy theorists, by Sean Kernan though that seems to explain that inexplicable. Why do they believe it has to be a conspiracy in the first place? There are many reasons given. People feel they have a lack of control in their life. Conspiracies offer a sense of community. These beliefs give someone a break from the mundane. They fulfill an individual’s strong desire for uniqueness. They believe they are on to something important that others don't understand. Those are all true, but there is another, probably more basic reason. Fear is the default behavior that evolution has given us. It drives them to believe that society’s powerful, unseen powers, act in hidden and nefarious ways. People feel they have a lack of control in their life. Conspiracies offer an explanation and in the modern world, a target. Really, the problem is the oligarchs and the ancient class war, but the Right Wing Media machine has convinced the Maga faithful that it is the Liberal Coastal Elites. They want them fighting the culture wars so that they don't notice the class wars eating them alive.

This offers a few paths. Use their own fears and emphasize the, obvious, class war going on. Mention that:
    .
What you need to catch on to is that it is not Right vs Left, it is Top vs Bottom, the Wealthy vs everyone else.
    .
It really seems like tariffs are just going to lead to even higher prices? How far is that going to go?
    .
Musk is making things crazy in Washington. How far is that going to go? Is [Medicaid, ACA, Medicare, Social Security] safe. I need that.
    .
Couldn't this hurt the entire economy and lead to inflation and even a recession?

Emphasize the class war. They know it. Ask about the billionaires and if they mention Soros, reply that Musk spent $290 Million on the election and seems to have won any bidding war. Now he can do anything he wants. It is true and they know it. Remind them. Kitchen table economics are why they are read to fight.

Play on their fears. It's what much of Maga responds to. President Musk’s policies are going to hurt the Maga crowd more than anyone. They are desperate and they are going to lose all kinds of social benefits, to pay for tax breaks for the wealthy. If Medicaid is gone, who will help with the nursing home expenses? Will I be able to get medical insurance? Will my children get an education?

Another advantage of this path is that these are not just real problems, but also they are problems that the Right Wing Leadership does not want them thinking about. Make them think about them. Let them scare themselves. They should be scared.

  • We keep asking ourselves how can the Maga base not see what is going on. Well, it is because they have been endlessly propagandized with lies about the Liberal Elite being the deep state secretly running America. Eventually, the truth will come out. Hopefully not too late to prevent a real mess. The thing is though that the oligarchs are doing so well that they aren't really hiding anymore. President Elon is smashing democracy as fast as he can. Well, call them out for what they are. See if that works. Maybe they will read it just to know what to tell you that you are wrong about.

I've heard about communists, but I've never met any. I've heard about socialists, but they seem mostly interested in Social Security, Medicare, Health Care and education. What I have seen is a bunch of insanely rich people and a whole lot of other people living pay check to pay check. One of those rich ones just paid $290 Million to be able to act like he was President. I heard that the socialists hated America, but it seems to be Musk that is busting up the government.

The Deep State, which is really the Oligarchs, is broad and deep. It is led by the many Koch brother's institutions The Heritage Foundation, CATO Institute, Federalist Society that write the conservative political policies like Project 2025. The same money that supports them is also put into campaigns for "conservative" candidates. Trump's game plan was written by a foundation funded by a guy nearly as rich as Musk. This is just more of the class war and right now Musk is leading the charge. The difference is that now they aren't really trying to hide it and are grabbing for total control. They are the Deep State. Musk's destruction of USAID was never about cost cutting. It was a favor to China to remove competition. It was also unconstitutional. Musk expects to be well rewarded for it. * 80% of Republicans in Congress are on record as wanting to cut Social Security and Medicare. They'll get to it. They want to undo all New Deal legislation.

If there is any deep state, it is the institutions created by the Koch brothers that wrote the Project 2025 policies that Trump is currently implementing, but that he felt he should deny knowing about before the election.

If you read conservative literature, like that coming from Hillsdale College, you hear all about some great Conservative ideals, which I actually admire, but it never mentions wealth concentration of the oligarchs that is what they have really built. Maybe they weren't honest about those conservative ideals and were all about wealth all along.

If there was a deep state, you would expect to see signs of it. Follow the money, like Musk putting in $290 Million during this last election is a good place to start. Maybe it leads back to the ultra-wealthy and always has.

  • Elon Musk has sounded the alarm about a plot by the US government to fund Politico and other news organizations, presumably to spread leftist lies.

The proper response is that: About $30,000.00 was spent on Politico Pro subscriptions, not direct funding of grants of any kind. What a surprise that governments have subscriptions to news outlets. Amazingly, there were subscriptions to other news and foreign affair magazines like the NYT. I sure hope there are, but there is no indication of any wrong doing or manipulation of the news... like when Fox News had to pay $3/4 BILLION for lying about the election.

  • It's hard to govern when you hate government. Apparently that is the problem. A democracy is inefficient, so they want to replace the government with a CEO, which they say is called a "dictator". They seriously claim that they want to destroy the government it for the good of the country. While right now with Trump, it's just about power, it works based on the anti-government ideological efforts leading back the John Birchers.
John Birches, think government is one large conspiracy or else they would have fixed everything long ago.

The reason Musk wants to get rid of NSAID is as a gift to China. It is NSAID that competes with China's Belt and Road Initiative for the favor of other nation's governments around the world for America. Instead of America helping nations around the world, China can help them and after a while America simply won't be welcome around trhe world. Also, Musk and other Billionaires stands to get business favors and tons of money from China.
Apparently, according to Representitive (R)Chip Roy, the current GOP budget proposal would raise the National Debt by $5 Billion dollars. That's OK, the Right Wing Media Machine is already working on preparing Americans for higher prices as well. ...At least the rich will get tax cuts.
Trump has done a lot in his first week, but nothing Trump has done benefits the economy that he said was why to elect him. He has no interest in the economy now. He says that he's tired of talking about inflation. He mostly has been working on revenge.
The immigration crackdown already started to send ripples into the economy as workers are afraid to come in to work. Soon it will effect not just food production, but elder care, construction and other industries. I can see why Trump doesn't want to talk about inflation, because it is going to soar. Not only are the approximately 11,000,000 to 13,000,000 immigrants a huge part of the labor force. The best, cheapest scenerio to deport them all would be about $185,039,617,010. Oh, and if Trump goes after the Cartels as he says he wants to, that will increase immigration pressure.
You would think that all the billionaires he got for cabinet positions in the government would want to pay more attention to the economy, but they seem too busy fighting for their own control and power.
In his efforts to drain the swamp, Trump illegally fired all 17 Inspector Generals responsible for controlling the swamp monsters. The Inspector Generals are being fired to eliminate audits and internal investigations of fraud and corruption. A little gift from the President to his Cabinet picks to reward themselves from the budgets they manage. He also went ahead and fired all 3 Democrats on Privacy and Civil Liberties Oversight Board (PCLOB) just because.
Also fired was the National Labor Relations Board acting chair Gwynne Wilcox — despite her congressional appointment not being up until 2028. Wilcox’s firing closes down the NLRB because it’s left with just two members, and the Supreme Court has ruled that the Board needs at least three to issue any rulings. Trump also fired NLRB General Counsel Jennifer Abruzzo, leaving Board attorneys who investigate employee and employer complaints without any guidance. Presto — American workers are no longer protected from illegal firings or unfair labor practices by their employers. The National Labor Relations Act of 1935 is effectively gone.
The Trump Administration announced (and temporarily cancelled) that it would temporarily halt all federal payments. That leads to a Constitutional Crisis, because "Congress controls the power of the purse strings" and he has claimed that power for himself. That power of the purse, as part of the "Separation of Powers" is about the only thing keeping Trump from being a king. This action is a direct challenge to "Separation of Powers" our government is based on. The Supreme Court ruled against this kind of "Impoundment" action in 2012.
What a mess... Paul Abbate, the deputy FBI director, then serving as acting director, retired on Inauguration Day. Now, senior FBI leaders ordered to retire, resign or be fired by Monday, February 1. The leadership changes have drawn internal consternation, in part because these officials didn’t have anything to do with prosecutions of Donald Trump, which have been the focus of the president’s ire. The personnel moves come as hundreds of FBI agents who were assigned to investigate the January 6 US Capitol attack and Trump’s alleged mishandling of classified documents are bracing for the possibility that they could be forced out or punished, similar to what has happened to dozens of career Justice Department lawyers.
December 29, 2024 Republicans launched an unprecedented assault on the Department of Veterans Affairs’s healthcare system earlier this month with devastating bills that would gut it from the inside out. This isn’t reform: it’s demolition and privatization. And it is fiscally reckless. The architects of this attack are following the lead of Concerned Veterans for America, a Koch-backed outfit that has long plotted VA privatization. The proposals would strip the VA of its core functions, reducing it to little more than a checkbook for private-sector (and less accountable) providers.

  • Welcome to the Maga future. This is what they want. No no government and no regulations.
    January 20: FAA director fired
January 21: Air Traffic Controller hiring frozen
January 22: Aviation Safety Advisory Committee disbanded
January 22: Trump declared excellence and safety had been restored at the FAA
January 28: Buyout/retirement demand sent to existing employees
January 29: First American mid-air collision in 16 years Making America Great Again!

01/30/2025. The preliminary internal F.A.A. Report about the D.C. collision between a helicopter and airliner at Ronald Reagan International Airport, says that staffing was "not normal for that time of day and volume of traffic". The controller who was handling helicopters was also instructing planes that were landing and departing. These tasks are normally assigned to two controllers rather than one.
I wonder if that understaffing could be because the Trump folks seem to have fired everyone responsible for Air Safety? It was just over a week after firing the heads of the Transportation Security Administration and Coast Guard, eliminating all members of a key aviation security advisory group, and freezing all hiring at the Federal Aviation Administration including key air traffic controllers, that the United States has experienced its deadliest aviation disaster in nearly 24 years.
It's understandable. Trump needs to cut funds from all the government agencies that protect us in order to pay for his tax cuts to large corporations and billionaires.
It's hard to say just now though, but in the past, Musk has blamed black pilots for causing crashes.

  • The question to ask is: since everyone, including Trump, agrees that tariffs will raise prices for consumers and businesses, is it still a good thing?

Feb. 4, 2025 Sen. Mitch McConnell (R-Ky.) questioned the logic of Donald Trump’s tariffs on allies, stating that the measures will raise prices for American consumers. “It will drive the cost of everything up. In other words, it will be paid for by American consumers. I mean, why would you want to get in a fight with your allies over this?” McConnell told CBS News’ Lesley Stahl in a “60 Minutes” interview.

A lot of people don't seem to understand the important thing about tariffs - the consumer pays them. Tariffs are added to the price of things after they have come into the country. In no way does the other country or the supplier in another country pay the tariffs. Tariffs are paid by the importer and passed on to the consumer. They are basically a tax paid by the consumer. They are instant price inflation and likely to lead to a recession.

Mr. Trump's signature policy plan is to replace the income tax with tariffs. It has been tried before with disastrous results. The (R)Smoot (R)Hawley 1930 Tariff Act was signed by (R) President Hoover in 1930 and raised tariffs astronomically. It had been overwhelmingly supported in Congress by Republicans. Over 1000 economists at the time signed a letter asking Hoover to veto it. Business leaders like Henry Ford and J.P. Morgan warned against it and sure enough it supercharged the Great Depression. Some economists say Trump's proposal would be far worse than the Smoot Hawley Act as it is 6 times what the Smoot Hawley Act did. Tariffs are paid by the consumer. It raises prices and that is the definition of inflation.

Another basic problem with the plan to replace income tax with revenue from tariffs, is that they won't raise the $1 trillion needed to replace the income tax revenues. Tariffs have historically contributed no more than 2 percent of federal revenue. It's not going to work.

Trump's trade war with Canada, Mexico, and China through imposing tariffs has already sparked retaliatory measures, with Canada imposing a 25 percent tariff on $30 billion in U.S. goods and Mexico planning agricultural import tariffs.

The tariffs imposed by Trump don't just hurt the working class with higher prices. They also do great harm to the wealthy, with billionaires facing more significant financial losses from the trade war than the average person, as shown by the stock market drop and income distribution impact. Expect a recession, and then more economic mistakes. Basically what he did and how he did it looks like an all around screw up. It's going to hurt, as Trump already has admitted.

The last time Trump raised prices on steel, the price went up. Initially, more American manufactured goods were sold. Then, when the price of steel had to be passed on, the price of the goods went up and sales fell off again. The farmers weren't so lucky. Retaliatory tariffs imposed by other nations have to be taken into account. For example, “American farmers and ranchers incurred the most widespread damage from this retaliation following the 2018 tariffs. The damage was so great that the [first] Trump administration authorized $61 billion in emergency relief payments to cushion farmers and ranchers from the blow…an amount roughly equivalent to all of the tariff revenue collected from U.S. businesses,” reported Adam S. Hersh and Josh Bivens of The Economic Policy Institute. Waht that doesn't mention is that the US farmers permanently lost markets to competitors such as Brazil.

The interesting thing about Trump putting tariffs on Canadian goods is that he says our trade agreement is horrible. It is the trade agreement Trump created during his last term, to replace NAFTA.

  • Traditional Conservatism is about the preservation of what has worked and what seems good. It used to be a guiding protagonist of conservation and environmental protection. It worked to preserve huamn rights and would have been called Woke back when Richard Nixon supported the Environmental Protection Act (EPA) and abortion rights.

Now we have Trump, who is happy to be a destroyer. He's certainly not conservative.

  • Mr. Trump's main accomplishment while in office was to enact tax cuts that created a new record addition to the National Debt. The largest benefit was for the wealthy corporations that used the windfall for stock buy backs.
He said America needed an infrastructure bill, but it was Joe Biden that passed it.
He said he had a health care bill. He didn't, but he wants to kill the one passed by President Obama that millions of Americans depend on.

Republican Chip Roy said: “One thing. I want my Republican colleagues to give me one thing — one — that I can go campaign on and say we did,” “Anybody sitting in the complex, if you want to come down to the floor and come explain to me one meaningful, significant thing the Republican majority has done.

04/08/2024 - Conspiracy theorist Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene (R-Ga.) managed to say something that even her biggest critics were only too happy to agree with. “Our Republican House majority has failed completely,” she said at a town hall event in Georgia. “And I have had enough of it.”

The Republicans haven't offered any policies to benefit ordinary Americans in 40 years. Just tax cuts for the wealthy to drive up the National Debt and more and more and more guns. Oh yeah, and outlawed abortion, removed books from libraries, promoted anti-gay rhetoric, passed voter suppression laws.

Mr. Trump was literally the worst president the US has ever seen. Which is why nobody who worked for him in his last administration supported his re-election, and several of them were actively supporting Kamala Harris.

He achieved none, count them, none of his campaign promises. Did he pay off the debt? No. Did he replace Obamacare with something better on Day One? No, and not on Day 1201 either. Did he built a wall and get Mexico to pay for it? No. Did he pass a giant infrastructure bill? No. (Mr. Biden did though.) Did he bring down the cost of prescription meds? No. He failed dismally at literally everything. He was absolutely useless.

The US had 25% of the global deaths from Covid because the Trump administration response to it was a fiasco. There was no coordination whatsoever. It was worse than Brazil under Bolsonaro! That’s how bad it was.

Donald Trump has often touted economic growth during his presidency as evidence that he was a successful president, but the latest revision to GDP dating back to 1999 has suggested his rosy view of the period is a fantasy. The revisions were part of the US's gross domestic product report that was released in 2022 by the US Commerce Department's Bureau of Economic Analysis. The revisions revealed that economic growth under Mr Trump was the worst since President Herbert Hoover, who was in the White House from 1929 to 1933, the period of the Wall Street Crash and the onset of the Depression.

Mr Trump, like many Republicans before him, focused his economic strategy around a massive tax cut for corporations and the nation's wealthiest people, which some economists argue did little to actually aid in overall economic growth.

  • “It is a fact that other Americans are a direct threat to my way of life,” Leonard said. “It is not a fact that my way of life is a threat to theirs.” The problem isn’t polarization but, rather, the GOP-led assault on the rights of millions of Americans.

A lot of this current mess started with "No Compromise, No Cooperation" Newt Gingrich's Contract on America. He likes biology and saw Darwinian "Law of the Jungle" as the best way to get the policies victories the Republicans couldn't get through elections, because no one really liked their policies. That is also the reason the Republicans have worked to dominate the courts. It is why the Constitution is an inconvenience for the Republicans because it is the legal foundation of American Democracy and American Law. It represented the compromises and cooperation necessary to democratic government. They don't want Democracy. They want to rule. This is not new. Just look at history.

Everything really did get dramatically worse when Newt Gingrich brazenly announced that the other side wasn't a group of colleagues to be negotiated with and have dinner and drinks with; they were enemies to be treated as enemies, stopped at every opportunity, and crushed whenever possible. They were to be painted as evil and an existential threat to all that we hold sacred and the lives of ourselves and our children.

They do that through horrid straw man arguments and dramatic, hyperbolic exaggerations of the other side's positions. Because their audience lives in a nearly perfect information silo, they are vulnerable to this kind of misinformation and demagoguery. They literally don't know any better.

They take fearful people, make them ever more afraid, and then give them a laundry list of Bad Things That Democrats Do, and make them thoroughly terrified. And they're totally made up.

Then, they send their candidate out to say, "I, alone, can fix it."

It was a very long run of political Mutually Assured Destruction before that, but Newt ... went nuclear when nobody else really had.

He's still doing it today, and his followers have taken pages straight out of his playbook.

  • The first way to understand what is going on these days is to say that we are in a class war between the wealthy and everyone else. This is an ancient struggle and in the past has often actually been a driver of progress. Progress though, has led to democracy and its ideals of equality. The class war destroys any possibility of equality, economic, social, legal, political, or otherwise. It makes sense. We all have self interest. The problem is that the modern world allows too much control by a few. Wealth gets concentrated and we now have reached a point where Housing, Health Care and Higher Education are widely unaffordable. For many, even Family has become that way.

Warren Buffet said that we are in a class war and his side is winning.

Do be aware that the class war is a problem, but it does get more complicated because while the class war is a rather natural outcome of economics that needs balancing, there is also greed which is another kind of evil. There is also a resistance to change has created dangerous ideologies. This is about describing the economic class war, something America is very familiar with, just because it is a nation that creates great wealth.

In history, there have always been a few rich and the rest were poor. There was never a middle class and the working class was the poor. It's not just that a lot of people want to control wealth. There are also people that want to go back to how things were in history. The wealthy didn't have to worry about law. That was for controlling the workrs that made them wealthy.

It's why the Republicans want their base fighting the class war so that they don't notice the economic war eating their families alive.

Culture war issues do not effect pocket books. The working class and what is left of the middle class are hurting financially. Trump said it was because the game is rigged, and he knew it because he took advantage of it. His success was blaming "liberal elites" for it and somehow convinced his base that he would help them. Really, it's old money, the kind that hates unions and protects their interests by financing Republican causes and candidates. There has always been just the rich and the poor. It seems that much of the conservative goal is to return to that. They want their power with no limits from law. Anytime anything is proposed that helps ordinary people, they scream that it is socialism or communism, evils that cannot be tolerated. There is this constant battle between people trying to improve society and those who want to control and exploit it. There needs to be a balance between the two, but some people just don't seem to be good at balances and we have to solve the problem of the extremes.

  • 01/18/2024. Nearly 270 millionaires and billionaires urged world leaders congregating in Switzerland for The World Economic Forum on Wednesday to tax their wealth, warning that if their elected representatives don't address the drastic rise in economic inequality, the consequences will be "catastrophic."

"Our request is simple: we ask you to tax us, the very richest in society," the letter signed by 268 millionaires and billionaires from 17 countries and published Wednesday.

"This will not fundamentally alter our standard of living, nor deprive our children, nor harm our nations' economic growth. But it will turn extreme and unproductive private wealth into an investment for our common democratic future."

"Inequality has reached a tipping point, and its cost to our economic, societal and ecological stability risk is severe -- and growing every day. In short, we need action now," the letter states, adding that philanthropy and one-off donations will not fix the issue.

The letter comes as a new poll published Wednesday shows that 74% of wealthy people support higher taxes on their fortunes, while 75% support the introduction of a 2% tax on billionaires, as proposed by the European Union Tax Observatory.

"Throughout history, pitchforks were the inevitable consequence of extreme discontent, but today, the masses are turning to populism, which is on the rise throughout the world," Abigail Disney said in a statement.

"We already know the solution to protect our institutions and stabilize our country: it's taxing extreme wealth. What we lack is the political fortitude to do it. Even millionaires and billionaires like me are saying it's time. The elites gathering in Davos must take this crisis seriously."

03/15/2024. Peter Turchin, a Russian-American complexity scientist whose 2010 model appeared to correctly predict growing civil unrest across the U.S. and Western Europe, thinks Western countries are in much more danger of a major “macro-violence outbreak” than Russia is. Turchin believes that violent outbreaks occur every 50 years, allowing enough time to pass for elites to forget about the consequences of rising greed and instability. The last period occurred in the 1970s, with 2020 kicking off the next period of unrest.

Now predictions like this that are based on analysis of many many different factors are always to be taken with a large grain of salt. You could almost certainly find another researcher from the same year showing their data and analysis proving just the opposite. With a bit of a more superficial examination though, you might reach the same conclusion. According to the Federal Reserve, the top 10% of U.S. households held 66% of total wealth in the country. Income inequality, meanwhile, grew throughout the pandemic. We know that he current economic model of trickle down tax cuts has made a lot of billionaires, but the middle class has largely vanished. It is harder to afford the three 'H's: Housing, healthcare, and higher education. That's before mentioning the 'F' word: family. A large part of Trump's appeal is economic and is why the Republican party wants their base focusing on culture wars instead of noticing the economic wars eating them alive even though trickle down was supposed to help them.

It's not just scientists, economists and working folks saying this. Many of the extremely wealthy are saying it too and that they want higher taxes before the pitch forks come out. Many of the very wealthy are preparing for societal conflict or even collapse. For that matter, some segments of society want it to happen for various reasons. I don't think they realize how much we rely on civilization and its complex supply chains for life support.

• 03/09/2024. Reagan believed in American democracy. He called it “the highest social achievement of mankind” and he recognized that democracy is vulnerable. He said our democracy is “under attack from the outside, and it is under attack by those who would destroy it from the inside.” Now, Reagan’s own party is devoted to eradicating what he cherished. Ronald Reagan said that “democracy is worth dying for, because it’s the most deeply honorable form of government ever devised by man.” Today, we have a deeply dishonorable man leading the fight to kill democracy.

During a recent Conservative Political Action Conference panel discussion moderated by Trump’s former chief strategist Steve Bannon, right-wing activist Jack Posobiec said this: “Welcome to the end of democracy. We are here to overthrow it completely. We didn’t get all the way there on Jan. 6, but we will endeavor to get rid of it and replace it with this, right here,” Posobiec said as he pointed to the crowd and raised his clenched fist.

Conservatives make no secret of their intent to destroy democracy. To the contrary, they speak loud and proud of the fact that they reject the notion that America’s destiny should be determined by the will of the majority of its citizens and instead they strive to impose iron-fisted domination by their immoral and evil minority. Reagan Republicans celebrated the fall of fascism and the rise of democracy. Trump Republicans do the exact opposite. They wrap themselves in the flag and wave the Bible, pretending to be patriots and Christians when in fact they’re neither.

The GOP economic record: Record debt, only 1 million net jobs added since Reagan (vs 50 million and counting by Dems), 12 of the last 13 recessions, major economic collapse in 2008, and threats to end the ACA and cut entitlements while giving billionaires more tax cuts they don't need or want. The GOP is a dumpster fire on steroids. Looking to them for answers is masochistic to the extreme.

  • The main purpose of this is to offer some pithy sayings that you can paste in the comments section of media or in social media that are powerful political truths to disrupt the dishonest Republican narrative. There are a lot more in the sections below. I ordered them the best I could, but there are so many of them.

“I’ve been around for a long time and it just seems that the economy does better under the Democrats than the Republicans.” - Donald Trump in an interview with Wolf Blitzer, 2004.
The right wants their base fighting the culture wars so that they ignore the economic wars eating them alive. What they need to realize is that it is not Right vs Left, it is Top vs Bottom, the Wealthy vs everyone else.
Dealing with Donald Trump is not about politics as usual. It is Game of Thrones. Donald Trump's total takeover of the Republican Party as a precursor to what he wants to do to America. He much prefers the Law of the Jungle to the Constitution of the United States.
Putin and Kim Jong Un qualify as pretty evil dictators, but I don't think either one can compete with Trump for sheer immorality as well as petty criminality. It's not just that he endangers the nation, Trump actually could endanger world civilization.
“You take the lies out of him, and he'll shrink to the size of your hat; you take the malice out of him, and he'll disappear.” ~Mark Twain
Remember that 80% of Republicans in congress support raising the retirement age and slashing social security benefits.
Trump was popular because he said he would help ordinary Americans, but everything that benefits ordinary Americans gets called socialism or communism by the right wing zealots. Certainly any investment in American citizens, such as education or health care gets called socialism. We make billionaires now, but ordinary people are going broke and no way is Trump going to help them.
GOP billionaires claim to want 1950's prosperity, but resist 1950's economic policies and call them socialism. One of Donald Trump’s leading economic advisers now admits he was wrong about the predictions he made for the economy under President Joe Biden. Everyone was sure there would be a recession after Covid, but no, he avoided it.

Many Americans would consider voting for Trump because they believe he will help them. He is not going to. He will help his rich donors as he always has and give them unneeded tax cuts that are paid for by American workers. When are they going to figure out that following in the footsteps of Reagan, Trickle Down Tax Cuts only help the wealthy? Republican policy has gutted the middle class and will continue to.
One problem the anti-vaxxers are going to have is that the mRNA vaccines they hate were so effective that moving forward, pretty much all vaccines will be mRNA type and there is a lot worse out there than Covid.

Donald Trump has often touted economic growth during his presidency as evidence that he was a successful president, but a recent revision to GDP dating back to 1999 has suggested his rosy view of the period is a fantasy. The revisions were part of the US's gross domestic product report that was released by the US Commerce Department's Bureau of Economic Analysis. The revisions revealed that economic growth under Mr Trump was the worst since President Herbert Hoover, who was in the White House from 1929 to 1933, the period of the Wall Street Crash and the onset of the Depression.

On the other hand, Donald Trump’s proposed 10% tariff on all imports and anti-immigrant policies are poised to fuel inflation and make grocery prices higher, not lower. The former president is campaigning on placing new tariffs on trillions of dollars of imports, 100% on cars and 60% on all products from China. Also he plans on mass deportations of undocumented immigrants, which would likely make costs significantly higher for domestic beef, chicken, and dairy products. If Trump does what he says though, figure that the cost of goods would just about double for working class families. Inflation under Biden would look trivial.

There are other reasons why many experts think it helps the U.S. to back Ukraine. One factor is U.S. global power competition with China. Russian and Chinese leaders declared a military and political partnership days before Russia’s invasion of Ukraine in February 2022. They plan to strengthen their joint security work across Asia and Europe. U.S. political and military leaders have noted that supporting Ukraine and pushing back against Russia is one clear way to deter China from strengthening its global political power and military reach. Navy Adm. Samuel J. Paparo said in February 2024 that Russia’s potential loss in Ukraine is “a deterrence in the western Pacific and directly reassures partners.”

While the Maga keep talking about the radical left, the GOP had to come up with a name for the Republicans that weren't radicalized, RINOs.

Richard M. Nixon. PRESIDENT Richard M. Nixon, figurehead of the GOP, founder of the EPA, enactor of the Wage and Price Freeze, opener of China to increase trade, and a strong proponent of universal health care, free college, and a national living stipend because the country was rich and we could afford to do this and it’d pump money into the economy where it was needed most.

When people talk about “Radical Left,” what it really says is that they don’t know history. The Democrats are roughly at the era of Reagan Republicans. The GOP is full-blown Nazi/Christian fascist/oligarchy. So before you talk about “too far left,” you need to look at the GOP party platform in 1972, or, better in 1956, and figure out that the GOP is way too far to the right.

Trump is proposing to replace the income tax with tariffs. Not only would that help the wealthy at the expense of everyone else, but it has been tried before with disastrous results. Tariffs are paid by the consumer. It raises prices and that is the definition of inflation. They are like sales taxes and like sales taxes, it hurts the middle class far more than the wealthy. Some economists say Trump's proposal would be far worse than the Smoot Hawley Act as it is 6 times what the Smoot Hawley Act did.

Trump is a convicted Felon. A New York jury found him guilty of all 34 charges in a scheme to illegally influence the 2016 election through a hush money payment to a porn actor who said the two had sex. He listed the payments as a business expense. That was illegal. The Trump defense answering the charges, really had no defense. The written documents were right there. Trump even admitted he did it, but claimed it wasn't illegal, or it was his lawyers who did it, etc.
They keep talking about maybe this or maybe that or maybe bias, but there was no maybe to testimony or evidence or witnesses. America won a legal case against Trump.
According to the Founders of the country, Presidents had to be held to a higher law because their greatest fear was a President that wanted to be a king. Back then, there would have been duels to simplify the matter.

“We could very well have a sitting president under felony indictment and ultimately a criminal trial,” Trump said during a November 5, 2016, campaign rally in Reno, Nevada, reviewed by CNN’s KFile. “It would grind government to a halt.” Trump made the comments nearly eight years ago about Hillary Clinton during the 2016 presidential campaign. “She has no right to be running, you know that,” Trump said. “No right.”

Trump added at a November 5, 2016, rally in Denver that as “the prime suspect in a far-reaching criminal investigation,” Clinton’s controversies would make it “virtually impossible for her to govern.”

It does look bad that all the witnesses in the Jan 6 hearings were from one party. Bad for Trump because they were all from his party.

Colorado (R) Senator Buck, member of the conservative Freedom Caucaus, said he is resigning from the Senate because "this lie that the 2020 election was stolen". He said the same thing about Jan 6. Senator Buck said he was disappointed that Republicans have failed to tackle “major issues” like reforming federal social insurance programs. This is a guy from the Freedom Congress that can't stomach Republican lies anymore.

08/28/24. In a podcast interview with Russian American computer scientist Lex Fridman that aired Tuesday, Trump acknowledged that he lost the presidential election “by a whisker.” (You can check out Trump’s comments around the 11:10 mark.) The surprising remarks follow a similar comment by Trump at a Moms for Liberty conference last week, saying Biden “beat us by a whisker”—before baselessly claiming that Democrats “used Covid to cheat.” At a press conference at the southern border last month, Trump said that he came up “just a little bit short” in the last election.

Of all the statements you can post, one statement stands out more than any other because it is such a sad, damning truth. This is especially good to use when a Republican attacks the Democrats or the President with a short, dumb comment. Post this where you can. If you want to have fun, post it in comments sections, on Twitter, on Fox, on Reddit, on WaPo, conservative Facebook groups or get an account on Truth Social if you really what to go for it. Simply post one of these:

The Republicans haven't offered any policies to benefit ordinary Americans in 40 years. Just tax cuts for the wealthy to drive up the National Debt and more and more and more guns. Oh yeah, and outlawed abortion, removed books from libraries, promoted anti-gay rhetoric, passed voter suppression laws.

The Republican House majority shows their nature and the problem with it. It's just about power so inevitably they turn on each other. If it was about democracy or making democracy work, they would be able to find compromises, but they can't. Really, what they want is chaos so that they can say that democracy doesn't work and that what is needed is a dictator.
It's hard to govern when you hate government.
The dysfunctional government is intentional. It's about power.
Psychopaths thrive in chaos. Nations, businesses and families, not so much.

Republican Chip Roy said: “One thing. I want my Republican colleagues to give me one thing — one — that I can go campaign on and say we did,” “Anybody sitting in the complex, if you want to come down to the floor and come explain to me one meaningful, significant thing the Republican majority has done.

After the 2016 election, the Republicans controlled the Senate, House and Presidency. They didn't once try to pass immigration legislation. It's a great political issue to blame on the Democrats.

Bidenonomics, announced in Biden's State of the Union Address, is basically to end the disaster for the working class known as Trickle Down.

(Use all or part as needed.) That's a truth that hurts, because it's true. Republicans haven't legislated and they try to dominate through the courts because no one likes their policies. They don't always even have a known platform but instead just say "vote for us and we will fix everything those despicable socialist Democrats are doing to destroy this country". They love to claim that "Democrats hate America". Worse still, they break things just so they can claim the Democrats have failed and only they can fix them. They damage America to damage Democrats politically.

Paste that one line and you will get every kind of deflection, whataboutism, personal attack and evasion imaginable, but you won't get many lies, because it's so true. There is no answer except more guns and tax cuts for the rich. Post it with a list of President Biden's accomplishments that are listed below. Occasionally, they will reply with something valid. The country has also problems like immigration that neither party can solve for whatever reason. The answers to paste for those are below as well.

Here's one for bonus points because it's a favorite story in the Republican echo chamber. Figure out where you can use it and you will not only annoy them, but confuse them too because "in the bubble" they constantly hear it about Democrats.
    Maga Republicans hate America.

Clearly, Maga Republicans do hate American Democracy because they can't get what they want through fair elections. That is also why they work so hard to dominate the courts. Voters just don't like what few policies they seem to have. Republicans actually do like America. They want to rule it though and they are horrible at even governing. They also want to end every program that helps ordinary Americans from Obamacare, to SNAP food assistance, to Medicaid, to Medicares, to Social Security that keeps old folks from dying on the cold streets. They practice selfishness and cruelty.

America needs two political parties offering competing visions of how America can move forward in the challenging and uncertain times the nation and the world faces. The Maga Republicans prefer to be an insurgency working to conquer America.

Let me lay out the Republican scheme for you.

    1) The true republican base, multi millionaires and billionaires, want most of government eliminated. They especially oppose health, safety, and environmental regulations, taxes on the rich, consumer protections, and any other restrictions on their ability to relieve the rest of us of all of our money and the burden of living any kind of comfortable life.

    2) Republicans have been on a 40+ year quest to destroy government in service of the above. They tell people that governmet is awful and that, if elected, they will fix it. Then they gut, hamstring, and sabotage everything they can while in office. They run up huge deficits and cause recessions. Then they get voted out.

    3) Democrats come in and fix what they can over the intransigence of republican opposition while republicans blame democrats for everything and repeat step 2.

    3) Their culture war efforts have created a powerful base of people who will not tolerate any cooperation with democrats that isn't a complete democratic surrender. This base is the part of the party that is currently maintaining discipline. The Republicans want their base fighting the culture wars so that they don't notice the economic war eating them alive.

    4) Their goal, and the election lies and current chaos are evidence, is to make government so dysfunctional that the American people will turn to a strongman type of government in fear and frustration. The strongmen will use all of the might of the government to enforce the will of the 1% on the rest of us.

The Republicans want their base fighting the culture wars instead of seeing that they are being taken to the cleaners in the economic wars. Warren Buffett said that there was a class war and his side was winning. Ordinary Americans are hurting economically. Trump said the game was rigged and he knew because he took advantage of it. Somehow his base believed he would help them and voted for him. He won't help them but he was talking about the Corporate Democracy Reagan had built which made a lot of billionaires but made everyone else and the nation the poorer for it. Joe Biden's State of the Union speech was about changing the economy back to the Citizen Democracy we had from Eisenhower until Reagan, America's most prosperous time. I expect Harris to continue that.

Let's see what Joe Biden has accomplished...
An actual infrastructure bill instead of just proclaiming "infrastructure week" every month.
CHIPS bill which will improve our microchip production to compete with China and support hi-tech manufacturing in the U.S.
Inflation Reduction ACT to fight climate change, all while reducing the deficit.
Lowest unemployment rate in 50 years.
Under Biden, more jobs have been created than since the 1960s..
Biden signed a bill to allow the government to negotiate prescription drug costs.
Expanded veteran's healthcare with PACT bill.
Gun Bill legislation for the first time in decades.
Killed the leader of Al Qaeda without any other casualties.
Create Broadband fund to get internet to rural and other areas
Re-establishes our standing in the world as an international leader, playing a key role in expanding NATO and rallying the civilized world against Russia's aggression in the Ukraine, Managed to orchestrate the Ukraine War to keep troops out while bleeding Russia.
And last but not least, we get to wake up every morning without a feeling of dread wondering what kind of "governing" our president did via tweet, or what segment of our population got their rights trampled overnight.
Now all we have to worry about is the MAGA calls for violence.
That seems OK for the first two years and far more than the MAGA king accomplished.

  • Negotiated under President George Washington, passed unanimously by the Senate, and signed into law by the 2nd President of the USA, John Adams, in 1796 - Article 11 of the Treaty of Tripoli reads: "As the Government of the United States of America is NOT IN ANY SENSE founded on the Christian religion...". This treaty represents U.S. law as all treaties do according to the US Constitution Article VI, Sect. 2.

Thomas Jefferson said he viewed with “solemn reverence that act of the whole of the American people” which established “a wall of separation between church and state.” George Washington approved a treaty that explicitly stated, “The government of the United States is not in any sense founded on the Christian religion.” The very First Amendment in America’s Bill of Rights states “Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion.” The principal author of the Constitution, James Madison, in his treatise, “Memorial and Remonstrance Against Religious Assessments,” described 15 reasons why the U.S. government must avoid backing any religion.

There is a reason the word “God” does not appear a single time in the Constitution. The founders were breaking with an England and Europe that were still in the thrall of the idea that rulers derived their powers from heaven above, “the divine right of kings.” But in the Constitution it explicitly states their view that the powers of government are derived “from the consent of the governed.”

Madison said that “religion and government will both exist in greater purity the less they are mixed together” and saw the separation of the two as essential to avoiding “the ceaseless strife that has soaked the soil of Europe with blood for centuries”—a sentiment that clearly resonates with our own times. Washington celebrated that the U.S. had at last created a form of government “that gives to bigotry no sanction.” Benjamin Franklin wrote at length about the pernicious nature of religious tests in government documents.

  • Fox News has a clear origin story. Roger Ailes was Richard Nixon's Communications Director and they were upset with the facts being reported in the press about Nixon. They came up with a two-pronged approach: 1) vilify the so-called main-stream press and 2) create "alternate" fact media. You can draw a direct line from there to the future Fox "News". It was never supposed to be real news. They had to wait for the Reagan administration and the Republican congress to toss the Fair Reporting Act which allowed Fox News to be born and they also changed the law on foreign ownership of companies

Murdoch owns a vast plethora of media outlets, from Fox News to the New York Post and the Wall Street Journal, along with even more international written and visual media. He isn’t a hands-off owner either. He actively ensures editors and producers are publishing and airing angles, which he agrees with. Every bit of media that comes from his vast empire is carefully curated to manipulate vast swathes of the population to his whims.

As such, if a candidate, no matter how low in the pecking order, can garner support from Murdoch and other similar media moguls, they can ensure positive coverage on some of the most consumed media in the country and even get them to defend them against scandals or even hide legislation they support that the general public will not. For example, Fox News killed the Stormy Daniels story to protect Trump’s 2016 election. As this coverage is what the vast majority of people base their vote decisions on, this is a crucial part of winning a modern American election.

The Republican candidates know their positions, policies and rhetoric aren’t aligned with the democratic voice of their party, let alone the country. But they aren’t targeting them. Instead, they are on the campaign trail to raise more funds and amass media support necessary to reach office. This means pandering to the upper echelons of the 1%, who, in return for pushing their interests, will use vast amounts of funds and nationwide flattering news coverage to manipulate the general public and get these paid-for representatives into power. That is Fox News, where truth goes to die.

The Dominion $787 Million Judgement against Fox wasn't alone. Last year Hannity and FOX News had to pay the Rich family $10 Million Dollars for saying that Hillary Clinton was behind the murder of their son Seth,

Then, FOX settled a defamation lawsuit filed by Venezuelan businessman Majed Khalil for $50 Million Dollars for being accused on air of rigging the 2020 presidential election by then-Fox host Lou Dobbs.

They were then hit for $787.5 Million Dollars for lying about Dominion Voting Machines.

Next up, they're being sued for $2.7 BILLION DOLLARS for lying about Smartmatic Voting Machines.

Currently, FOX News, OANN, Newsmax and the "My Pillow Guy" are being sued for over $15 BILLION dollars for lying on the air.

Currently, CNN, MSNBC, ABC, NBC. CBS, PBS, HLN, C-Span, The BBC and Al Jazeera are NOT getting sued for lying on the air.

  • Twitter is owned by a Republican. Fox News is owned by a Republican. CNN is owned by a Republican. OANN is owned by a Republican. Newsmax is owned by a Republican. Daily Wire is owned by a Republican. The “liberal media” is a Republican myth. There are 1500 newspapers, 1100 magazines, 9,000 radio stations, 1500 TV stations, 2400 publishers. All owned by 6 corporations. 272 executives control 90% of what 277 million Americans see, hear and read.

11/22/2023. Sinclair Media personifies Right Wing fear mongering in media.

Every year, local television news stations owned by Sinclair Broadcasting conduct short surveys among viewers to help guide the year’s coverage. A key question in each poll, according to David Smith, the company’s executive chairman: “What are you most afraid of?” The answers are evident in Sinclair’s programming. Crime, homelessness, illegal drug use, failing schools and other societal ills have long been core elements of local TV news coverage. But on Sinclair’s growing nationwide roster of stations, the editorial focus reflects Smith’s conservative views and plays on its audience’s fears that America’s cities are falling apart,

Sinclair’s local network of 185 stations across the country makes it an influential player in shaping the views of millions of Americans, especially at a time when local newspapers are rapidly being gutted - or closed altogether.

Smith, an enthusiastic supporter of Republican presidential front-runner Donald Trump who has built Sinclair into one of the largest television station operators in the country, purchased the Baltimore Sun last month. In a private meeting with the Sun’s journalists, he urged them to emulate coverage at the local Sinclair station, Fox45, which in 2021 produced a documentary titled simply “Baltimore Is Dying.” In 2019, a Sinclair station produced an hour-long documentary titled “Seattle Is Dying,” which described how “the appeal of the city is giving way to rampant crime, homelessness and disgrace.”

As Sinclair increasingly fills the void left by newspapers, it offers its viewers a perspective that aligns with Trump’s oft-stated opinion that America’s cities, especially those run by Democratic politicians, are dangerous and dysfunctional. A 2019 study by researchers at Stanford and Emory universities showed that a Sinclair acquisition of local stations resulted in “substantial increases in coverage of national politics at the expense of local politics” and “a significant rightward shift in the ideological slant of coverage.”

    03/25/2024 Washington Post.
A previously undisclosed $50 million investment helped launch Newsmax into a Fox News competitor, a new report shows, and it came from an unexpected place: the Qatari government. In 2019 and 2020, a former Qatari government official and member of the royal family, Sheikh Sultan bin Jassim Al Thani, invested tens of millions into the fledgling far-right media company, according to documents leaked by a Cayman Islands–based financial services provider and reviewed by The Washington Post.

This was during a moment of acute Middle East tensions during the Trump administration. The investment bolstered a key conservative media outlet at a time when Qatar was facing intense diplomatic pressure from its neighbors and seeking allies in the United States. At the time the investment was made, a coalition of countries led by Saudi Arabia and the United Arab Emirates had established a diplomatic and economic blockade against Qatar, accusing it of supporting terrorist groups across the Middle East. Qatar had counted on its relationship with the United States for protection, but President Donald Trump initially sided with its regional rivals, praising their move in 2017 and criticizing Qatar for funding terrorism.

After the investment, Newsmax reporters were told not to crtiticized Quatar. Further, it became a pro-Trump outlet, more extreme even than Fox News. According to a report released on Jan. 4 by House Democrats, the Qatari government paid over $460,000 during Trump’s presidency to Trump World Tower in New York City for properties it owned, and in 2018 members of Qatar’s ruling family spent more than $280,000 at Washington, D.C.’s Trump International Hotel. In August 2018, a firm that had received significant financial backing from Qatar’s sovereign wealth fund also bailed out a company controlled by the family of Jared Kushner, Trump’s son-in-law and close adviser, on a troubled Manhattan real estate investment.

Trump then changed his tune as well. “They are investing very heavily in our country,” Trump said of Qatar during the 2019 White House meeting. “They’re creating lots of jobs.”

  • Russia can't defeat the US or the West militarily or economically. That's why Putin has spent the last 20+ years surreptitiously cultivating the far right in the USA and Europe through "ideological subversion", using the West's freedoms as weapons. The end game is to get people and right wing politicians to destroy the democratic institutions they have enjoyed, and taken for granted all their lives, and believe they are "patriots" in doing so...

This is well documented. It was an online influence campaign where Russian intelligence operatives made friends with the GOPs favorite topics which are then amplified, (un-vetted) by right wing media who use division as a profit making business model.

    - Race- using online operatives and bots to post inflammatory comments in news stories and phony BLM websites and Facebook pages.

    - Guns -NRA-Maria Butina, a FSB agent involved with Russian money funneling to far-right political candidates,

    - God and Abortion -various exchanges between evangelical pastors and Russians posing as fellow 'evangelicals', Pushing the narrative that conservatives and conservative Christian values are "under siege" and that Russia and Putin share the same societal goals as American conservatives (total fabrication)

    - Climate change - "a liberal created global power grab"

..and creating wedge issues out of anything possible as a Liberal vs Conservative fight to divide Americans. Donald Trump is the hand picked and supported candidate of Vladimir Putin. Russia has groomed Trump for years

  • Mr Biden has signed into law what marks the largest healthcare and benefit expansion in the history of the Veteran Affairs, giving an estimated 3.5 million sick and dying US veterans and service members access to healthcare and disability benefits.

The PACT Act means that multiple cancers, respiratory illnesses and other conditions are now presumptively linked to a service members’ exposure to burn pits during their deployment. It passed into law in August 2022 after years of lobbying by veterans and veteran organisations after 9/11.

Mr Biden also addressed burn pits in his 2022 State of the Union address, when he said he believed that the death of his own son Beau Biden was caused by his exposure to burn pits during his military service. Mr Biden urged Congress to act to pass legislation to automatically recognise the link between the toxic exposure and health conditions.

  • 11/28/2023. Yeah, that boat has sailed. Climate change is making millions of homes across the country difficult or impossible to insure. Insurers are pulling out of Florida, California and other states due to frequent natural disasters. Research has shown that rising ocean temperatures are causing hurricanes to gain strength more quickly, and to dump more rain than they did in the past. Thanks to mounting hurricane losses, home insurance premiums in Florida have risen an astonishing 300% in the last five years. Florida is hardly alone. Climate change makes wildfires more likely in states like California. Flooding is also exacerbated by climate change — not only in low-lying coastal states like Louisiana, but also in parts of the Midwest. Kentucky and West Virginia are among the several states particularly vulnerable to landslides. It’s a global problem. Three more states have been added to Tornado Alley. From Miami to San Francisco and around the world, rising oceans are causing destruction. In all, the United States saw 23 weather-related disasters in 2023 that each caused more than $1 billion of damage. 35.6 million homes across the country could see their insurance policies become more expensive, or disappear entirely, as insurers flee high-risk states.

“This is a man-made crisis,” Insurance Information Institute spokesman Friedlander told CNN in June. “That volume of lawsuits will drive more of these regional companies out of business.” It's not going to get better.

Hurricane Helene came from warm water in the Carribean, not from Africa. It's likely to happen again next year...

What you most often see from the climate deniars is two things, ether it is a normal [sun, Earth orbit, etc.] cycle or that China is worse so there is nothing the U. S. can do. America cannot be blamed for climate change. It takes every country for this to make an impact and that is never going to happen, fact.

Another thing you will see from the climate deniars is that we used to be told that we were heading for an ice age. Well, it was supposed to slowly go back to ice, but we have not only changed that but made it so the changes are happening super fast. Faster than the plants and animals can adapt. The change is also to a warmer world, so that means more energy to make much worse storms, as we have seen. In places, during heat waves, it is becoming too hot for humans to function.

Just as an FYI, According to a 2023 poll by Pew Research Center, 67% of Americans prefer to prioritize the development of wind, solar, and hydropower over dirty fuels, reducing pollution associated with millions of annual premature deaths and the accelerated rise of global temperatures. Clean-energy initiatives also create well-paying jobs, boost climate resilience amid more intense extreme weather, and can lead to lower utility bills.

02/14/2025. Just as an FYI. Two-thirds of those recently surveyed by the Yale Program on Climate Change... said they think global warming is impacting U.S. weather. Those who believe global warming is happening outnumber those who believe it is not by a ratio of more than five to one, the survey also found. Also, it found that 64 percent of Americans say that they are at least “somewhat worried” about global warming and 11 percent of Americans have considered moving to avoid the impacts of global warming. That's a lot.

Climate Change Deniers. They'll drive you nuts because they are more fact and evidence resistant than even the anti-vaxers. There's not much you can do with them but shut them down or maybe lay out a short convincing argument if it seems appropriate. You aren't just pasting these for them. Others read what you post, so it's best to have convincing arguments ready.
    Try these:

02/11/2025. Federal Reserve Chairman Jerome Powell said "The growing crisis in the insurance industry may make it hard to get a mortgage in parts of the country in the coming decades"

“If you fast-forward 10 or 15 years, there are going to be regions of the country where you can’t get a mortgage,” he said during his semiannual testimony to Congress, noting that banks and insurance companies have been pulling out of coastal and fire-prone areas they deem too high risk.

Insurers have been canceling policies across the country as climate change intensifies natural disasters, saddling them with multibillion-dollar losses. Because mortgage lenders typically require homeowners insurance as a condition of making a loan, prospective buyers with few alternatives.Banks and insurers won’t keep making loans or providing coverage when faced with evidence of disasters, Powell said.

03/15/2024. Another problem from climate change driven weather disasters is inflation caused by increased insurance costs. The more frequent extreme weather caused by climate change is leading to higher risk for insurance companies, which has led them to increase their prices, according to a study from Bankrate. Over the past decade, the U.S. has experienced a record $1.1 trillion in damage from severe weather, the most on record, which has contributed to higher insurance costs, the study claimed.

03/16/2024. Every day for the last 12 months, the world’s sea surface temperatures have broken records. “It’s not just an entire year of record-breaking ocean temperatures, but it’s the margin it’s breaking them by — it’s not even close to what the previous record was,” said Brian McNoldy, a senior research associate at the University of Miami Rosenstiel School of Marine, Atmospheric, and Earth Science. “That’s what’s raising the eyebrows of a lot of people.”

Average sea surface temperatures today are roughly 1.25 degrees Fahrenheit higher than they were from 1982-2011, according to the University of Maine’s Climate Reanalyzer. It’s a huge anomaly that could have significant effects on weather and ecosystems.

Human-caused climate change is likely playing a role, researchers said, but is probably not the only factor. Climate models predict a steady rise in sea surface temperatures, but not this quickly, and ocean surface temperatures also fluctuate and can be affected by natural climate variability, including patterns such as El Niño and La Niña.

“I pray we’re having a once-in-a-lifetime year of hot sea surface temperatures, but I do fear there may be something else going on that is causing a long-term change in sea surface temperatures we hadn’t predicted,” said John Abraham, a professor at the University of St. Thomas who studies ocean temperatures. “All bets are off now, this is something that is so unusual, it’s challenging our past expectations.”

04/24/2024. A common claim by climate change deniars is that EVs create more pollution than conventional cars. Due to the mining costs, the initial carbon footprint of an EV is higher than a comparable internal combustion engine vehicle. Those upfront emissions are paid back over time with the superior efficiency of electric motors, leading to a 70% reduction in total emissions over the average life of the vehicle. In the US, according to analysis, it takes about 25,500 miles of driving for an EV to break even.

Though still in its infancy, EV recycling is already profitable and capable of recovering more than 95% of the key minerals. A new analysis by Stanford University researchers, found that Redwood Materials’ recycling process produces up to 80% fewer emissions than the traditional supply chain using CO2 belching refineries. That’s enough to shorten an average EV’s environmental breakeven time with an internal combustion vehicle to less than 15,000 miles.

Millions of Americans havee already moved out of disaster prone areas. A new analysis was performed by the First Street Foundation, a data nonprofit focused on the effects of rising global temperatures. The findings were published in December in Nature Communications, as reported by Bloomberg.

A recent analysis found that 3.2 million Americans have moved away from areas at risk of floods during this 2000 and 2020 time period. However, most didn’t move very far — shifting to a different neighborhood rather than a different city — so data about the migration didn’t show up in broader studies.

Oil company scientists were studying global warming from fossil fuel use since 1977. They were well funded because the oil companies knew the risk. Their predictions of the rate of warming were quite accurate. The insurance companies are pulling out of Florida, California, and other states because of increased risks related to climate change. The U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA) released a new Plant Hardiness Zone Map (PHZM) on November 15, 2023. This is the first update to the map since 2012. The new map shows that half of the country has moved to warmer zones. Insurance companies are leaving Florida, California and other states due to increases risk from climarte events. The Mediterranean olive crop is failing. It goes on and on in America and around the world.

11/10/2023 - Between 2018 and 2022, the cost of weather and climate disasters surpassed $617 billion — a record high for any five-year increment, according to a Treasury report released Sept. 29. The report focuses on the impacts of climate change, from more frequent severe weather events to rising temperatures, on American household finances.

The cost of such disasters totaled over $176 billion in 2022 alone, and 13% of Americans reported economic hardship due to severe weather events and disasters within the past year.

Climate Change is effecting individual productivity and household finances, while causing housing damage. Hot, dry conditions are not only causing more fires in rural areas, but is also making urban fires far more common.
In 2021, the World Meteorological Organization found that extreme weather events, fueled by the changing temperatures of our planet due to human activities, are becoming more frequent.

As David Straughan detailed for MarketWatch in September, data from the National Centers for Environmental Information shows 43% of billion-dollar natural disasters in the U.S. have occurred in the past 10 years, with an uptick in flooding and severe storm events in particular.

At least 37 states suffered twice the number of billion dollar disasters this century than during the previous 20-years.

More than 300% increase in billion dollar disaster events per year since 2000:
    Arizona - 500%
    Wyoming - 450%
    Utah - 400%
    New Mexico - 367%
    Nevada - 335%
    Nebraska - 320%
    Colorado - 300%
    Wisconsin - 300%

A 2022 Harvard peer reviewed study (in Science.org VOL. 379, NO. 6628) of Exxon Mobile documents obtained since 2015 showed that they were remarkably accurate in their description of global warming due CO2 from to using fossil fuels. They then worked to hide it and undermine research that would show the problem. According to the 2022 study, 63% to 83% of global warming projections from the company's scientists have turned out to be accurate matches of real-life temperature rises in the decades since. Exxon's own scientists had been warning executives about the danger of burning fossil fuels since 1977. The executives knew about it, failed to tell their investors, lied publicly about it, covered it up, and are still working to increase the use of fossil fuels.

The oil company executives knew fossil fuel use would cause global warming... Their scientists, paid by their private money, gave what turned out to be very accurate predictions about the progress and effect of global warming. Those aren't leftists. They are steely eyed businessmen.

Follow the investment money. It's all in renewables. Everyone knows fossil fuel future is dead and can't compete economically. Just as natural gas has largely killed off coal, so too renewables are killing off fossil fuels in general. Renewables are cheaper in so many ways and the cost of protecting them like we do oil supplies isn't even usually added in the price. You don't go to war over solar or wind power.
It seems that climate change deniers often like to post that in the 70's the scientists were saying we were heading for an ice age.
In the 70's, scientists did say that we were heading for an ice age. It is what ice cores suggested, but as it does, science provided new data and now 99.8 or so of scientific papers support the theory of global warming. I guess since it is very measurable, it's probably more than a theory, but that’s what they call it in science.

Then there are the ones that say it's sun cycles warming the Earth, but the the last sun cycle ended in 2019 and was a cycle of extremely low activity. The temperature of the Earth still continued to rise during that time.

  • Jan. 6 Was A Day Of Insurrection and Attempted Coup. A sophisticated nation wide attempt was made to overturn the American Presidential Election.

I'd love to hear how the Republicans would spin it if they had managed to hang Vice President Mike Pence.

In a peaceful protest nobody dies, the legislators don't have to evacuate to safe rooms, and government property is not destroyed or damaged. Unfortunately, all these situations occurred during the Capitol Riot. So, anyone, anyone at all, claiming the opposite is a liar. This fact alone puts that particular liar directly on the side of "enemies of the state".

More damning than the gallows they brought were the plastic wrist restraints. They planned to capture legislators and publically execute them.
2024-02-08. “I think it was an insurrection caused by Nancy Pelosi,” Trump declared before qualifying it with: “if it was an insurrection.” Of course, it wasn't Nacy Pelosi that said “We fight like hell. And if you don’t fight like hell, you’re not going to have a country anymore,”. It was Mr. Trump at the rally he called before the crowd went on and sacked the Capital Building.

There has never been any mystery about what happened on January 6, 2021. As McConnell said at Trump’s second impeachment trial, “There’s no question—none—that President Trump is practically and morally responsible for provoking the events of the day.” The evidence revealed and shown since then supports McConnell's accusation. Any talk of the "deep state" is nonsense. No democrats were witnesses at the Jan 6 Commission hearings. They were all Republican witnesses, 86 Republican witnesses, the great majority of which Trump hired himself.

12/06/2023. House Speaker Mike Johnson just accidentally obliterated the Republican Party’s favorite conspiracy theory: that the January 6 insurrection was carried out by undercover federal agents and members of antifa. Johnson told a press conference Tuesday that the GOP is editing footage of the insurrection to prevent the Justice Department from potentially identifying rioters.

“We have to blur some of the faces of persons who participated in the events of that day because we don’t want them to be retaliated against and to be charged by the DOJ,” he said.

And with just one sentence, Johnson has given away the entire game. Republicans have spent the past nearly three years insisting that the riot was caused by antifa, Black Lives Matter protesters, and even undercover FBI agents. But if that’s true, then why would the GOP want to shield those people from identification?

In reality, hundreds of people arrested for participating in the January 6 attack said they went to Washington because they felt Trump had personally told them to. And now, Johnson has revealed that Republicans don’t want any more people who tried to overthrow the government to face any repercussions.

0/26/2024 . A Reagan appointed federal judge who has served on the bench for 37 years slammed prominent politicians for their "preposterous" claims about how the courts have handled Jan. 6 cases and their attempts to "rewrite history" about the U.S. Capitol attack, saying such rhetoric could foreshadow future far-right violence.

"On January 6, 2021, a mob of people invaded and occupied the United States Capitol, using force to interrupt the peaceful transfer of power mandated by the Constitution and our republican heritage," he said. "The rioters interfered with a necessary step in the constitutional process, disrupted the lawful transfer of power, and thus jeopardized the American constitutional order. ... This was not patriotism; it was the antithesis of patriotism."

He said he is "shocked" at how prominent political figures have talked about the convicted criminals who stormed the Capitol on Jan. 6, 2021, calling the politician's remarks [that the Jan 6 defendants were anything but criminals] "preposterous" and warning that such rhetoric "could presage further danger to our country."

These are the questions that need to be answered about the 1/6 Insurrection.
First; who planted the pipe bombs?.
Second; who disabled Mike Pence's key card?
Third; Who removed the panic button in Ayanna Presley's office?
Four; who shared the locations of non-reinforced capital windows?
Five; who walked off with the key to the secured bus that held all the riot gear forcing the Capitol Police to fight off an armed mob in their regular uniforms?
And finally question 6. Why did Republicans Mo Brooks of Alabama, Matt Gaetz of Florida, Andy Biggs of Arizona, Louie Gohmert of Texas, Scott Perry of Pennsylvania, and Marjorie Taylor Greene of Georgia, ask Trump for pardons after the capital attack?

  • The Right loves to talk about corruption in Biden's dealings with Ukraine. They claim that he got a Ukrainian prosecutor fired to protect his son, Biden. The story is as far from the truth as the maga crowd tends to wander.

    USA TODAY, OCT, 21, 2020
It's true that Joe Biden leveraged $1 billion in aid to persuade Ukraine to oust its top prosecutor, Viktor Shokin, in March 2016. But it wasn't because Shokin was investigating Burisma. It was because Shokin wasn't pursuing corruption among the country's politicians.

In the wake of the 2014 ouster of pro-Russian president Viktor Yanukovych, European and U.S. officials stepped up their efforts to deal with corruption in Ukraine. Top of the list to be removed was corrupt Ukraine Prosecutor General Viktor Shokin. Viktor Shokin worked for Russian oligarch, Mykola Zlochevsky.

Shokin's inaction in prosecuting corrupt Ukrainian politicians prompted international calls for his ouster, and ultimately resulted in his removal by Ukraine's parliament.

Then V.P. Biden, acting alongside our European allies, all agreed that Viktor Shokin was not the right guy for the job, prompting V.P. Biden to influence Ukraine to oust Viktor Shokin.

And according to the National Anti-Corruption Bureau of Ukraine, an independent agency set up in 2014 that has worked closely with the FBI, along with Yuri Lutsenko, the prosecutor general who succeeded Shokin in Ukraine said “There is no evidence Hunter Biden or V.P. Biden did anything wrong.”

For his actions to be improper it would mean that Biden somehow also got the United States Department of State, the European Union and numerous individual European countries, the International Monetary Fund, and the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development to also push Ukraine to remove Viktor Shokin for corruption. If we are trying to help rebuild a country, we want them to get rid of corruption. And his prosecutor was corrupt. It made no sense to help out a country where the $$$ was going to bad guys pockets. He was Putin's puppet.

On the other hand, it was President Biden that was warning Ukraine and Europe to expect a Russian invasion of Ukraine, a year before it happened.

Bidenomics is supposed to be going back to the Citizen Democracy we had from Eisenhower to when Reagan changed America to a Corporate Democracy. It was America's most prosperous time and tax rates on the wealthy were quite high, with incentives for them to invest in the American economy. It's about having an industrial policy so that America can compete better in the world, especially against China. It's about investment, which seems to be working well. It's about supporting unions. It should be about anti-trust and anti-monopoly legislation, ... which seems to be slowly moving forward.

Bidenomics is 47 million jobs created as of Sept 2023. 336,000 new jobs in Sept 2023.

Bidenomics is a 4.9% gain in real GDP, adjusted for inflation, in the 2023 second quarter. That’s not unprecedented, but it’s about twice the norm during ordinary times, when the economy is growing. Yeah, but inflation. Luckily the rate has dropped sharply from a high of 9% in 2022 to 3.7% now. It is also much lower than in the rest of the world. Inflation was largely driven by corporate profit taking anyway.

Bidenomics is investment such as the giant Infrastructure bill that has led to a manufacturing boon across the country.

Bidenomics is investment in Rural Broadband to help rural areas support businesses and education.
07/26/2023 - Bidenomics is working like gang busters. The S&P 500 is up 16% since Jan 20, 2021, when Biden was inaugurated, 20% over the past year. NASDEQ is up over 35%. There have been 70 record stock market closes, and 10.5 million new-business starts.

Unemployment at 3.6%, under 4% for 17 months, the best in 50 years according to the Bureau of Labor Statistics. In 2023, the average has been 314,000 new jobs per month. 2 million new jobs were created this year by July 2023. This has led to 4 million new jobs above pre-pandemic levels. (Trump lost 4 million jobs.) 13 million jobs have been created since Biden was elected, more than under any other President in a full four year term. There also has been no recession, that everyone predicted. Inflation dropped (12 months in a row) to 3% in June. The rest of the world still has high inflation. Wages in the U.S. are up 4%, more than inflation and Americans are saving more and have more in the bank. Income inequality has even been reduced some.
